The desired goal for these series of strategic meetings are far off yet but we are advancing, however small the step and however slow. 👣

Moving forward in AWA🙏

Many Heads Are Better Than One

The myriad issues that we face in the animal welfare advocacy require for a cohesive and comprehensive approach if we are to have any hope of seeing our beloved Cebu become a model community where humans and animals, especially cats and dogs, can peacefully thrive and co-exist.

Earlier today we hosted another meeting with fellow advocates and stakeholders, building up on the previous ones for the possible way forward.

It's my hope that as the group goes through this formative phase, our individual visions will be sharpened further and we will find our place in the greater scheme of things....

🌸 Theresa Marie Vidal, advocates responsible pet ownership and TNVR, nurturing rescues under her wing at Furrytails Haven.

🌸 Kazuko Tamamura, the Japanese Kitten Lady, fosters kittens through FOSTER FAMILY CAZCO, ensuring loving forever homes.

🌸 Joene Omega, co-founder of MARO - Mayari Animal Rescue Organization, Inc., has aided animals since 2012, embodying the quote, "Because no one should be left behind."

🌸 Kim Barbadillo of New Beginnings Cebu provides a new life for countless cats and dogs. She now focuses on TNVR.

🌸 Nelly Canonicato, manages Delgado Animal Day Care & Rescue Center, handling budget, logistics, and rescue operations.

🌸 Vivian Gonzales, cares for shelter dogs, runs errands, and aids in rescue operations at Delgado Animal Day Care & Rescue Center.

🌸 Sheila Marie Barredo, administers Furry Friends Second Chance, overseeing operations, volunteers, and rescue efforts.

🌸 Guia Matunding, oversees Team Aspin of Iloilo - TAIL, managing daily operations, adoptions, medical care, budgets, and shelter maintenance.

Lesley's journey❤️❤️❤️

It was a LOOOONNNGGGG day we had yesterday. Lesley and fur parents traveled for 5hrs from Tacloban City to Palompon , Leyte where they can take a ferry going to Pulang Bato, Bogo City. We met Lesley wth her fur parents at Pulang Bato Port in Bogo, Cebu at 12nn ( 3hrs drive from Mandaue City ). From Bogo we drove all the way to Samboan via Tabuelan for 7hrs. Lesley and fur parents took another ferry that will take them to Tampi, Negros then another 2 hrs drive going to their hometown. While me and my partner had to travel back to Mandaue City from Samboan for another 4 1/2 hrs.

Luther is back to his foster family in Sibonga. He was treated at South Veterinary clinic in Carcar city this morming. Thankful that his condition was nothing serious and he was.given take home medicines and some vitamins. We also gave him a sack of dog food and canned wet food he could share.to his fur friends .

Dear partners and friends,

I hope you realize that your support of our tiny shop is our rescues' lifeline. 🐾

And while we've already stopped rescuing and have shifted towards preparations for our retirement, there's that space reserved for the community strays that we feed daily. 🐾

Sadly Mama Choco needed our help. Kindhearted carenderia owners called my attention last night as they noticed her drooling with none of her usual interest in the food or water they served. 😞

She's now admitted and has tested positive (+) for erlichia, anaplasma and giardia. Thankfully she's negative (-) for distemper, parvo and leptospirosis. Hopefully her electrolyte imbalance and ongoing infection will be corrected with the fluids and antibiotics given. 🙏

The vet team is waiting for her to be stabilized so they can do the xray. She's definitely in pain so perhaps they'll find something in the process. 🙏

As they say, a visit to the vet is one of the most expensive trips and right now, running bill is approaching P20,000.00.😖

Thank you for having our backs as we take this rescue journey with Mama Choco... 🐾

Earlier today, we were privileged to host a stakeholders' meeting regarding Cebu City Government-Department of Veterinary Medicine and Fisheries ' milestones for 2023 and thrusts for the current year.

This is building upon the output of the 2022 Animal Welfare Summit, a landmark initiative of Vice Mayor Atty. Raymond Alvin Garcia.

As our LGU counterparts lead the way, we as animal welfare advocates must also up the ante in our efforts to transform Cebu City into a safe and responsible haven for the voiceless animals in our communities...

Together, let's aim for synergy that we may achieve our common goals sooner.

Will coordinate with Happy Tails Philippines and Island Rescue Organization regarding this reported slaughtering of dogs inside a private manufacturing company. For now the reporter will keep an eye and monitor the dog. He already asked help from the other employees and the guard and informed them that animal welfare advocates are monitoring.
