Pyometra in a 10 year old intact female dog with kidney disease. Any female dog that has not been spayed can develop a pyometra, but it is more common in middle-aged to older female dogs who have been through multiple heat cycles. Pyometra requires prompt attention and it can be deadly if left untreated.
The pus and blood filled uterus was surgically removed through ovariohysterectomy (spay) procedure.
Clinical signs of pyometra:
Vaginal discharge
Lethargy
Poor appetite
Increase thirst and urination
Distended or painful belly
Vomiting
Fever
Pale gums
Weakness or collapse.

Another case of re**al prolapse in a 2 month old kitten due to persistent diarrhea.

Re**al prolapse can occur in both dogs and cats at any age but is more common in kittens and puppies that have severe diarrhea or that routinely strain to defecate. It occurs when some or all of the re**al tissue protrudes on the a**s. The re**um is the part of the intestinal tract that connects the large intestine to the a**s.

If the re**al prolapse is not treated quickly, the re**um may turn very dark red to black. This is very serious and may result in long-term complications.

Meet our Canine Parvovirus Survivor, KELLY!

Canine parvovirus is a highly contagious and life threatening virus that can affect all dogs, but unvaccinated dogs and puppies younger than four months old are the most at risk. The virus affects dogs' gastrointestinal tracts and is spread by direct dog-to-dog contact and contact with contaminated f***s (stool), environments, or people. The virus can also contaminate kennel surfaces, food and water bowls, collars and leashes, and the hands and clothing of people who handle infected dogs.
Clinical manifestations include lethargy, loss of appetite, abdominal pain and bloating, fever or low body temperature (hypothermia) vomiting and severe bloody diarrhea.
Vaccination is the key to prevention!

FLUTD
Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease (FLUTD) is a term that refers to several conditions affecting cat’s lower urinary tract, including the urethra and bladder. Both male and female cats may be affected. However, due to their anatomical differences, MALE CATS are predominant.

In this case, Tokwa a 3-year-old intact male cat was brought to the clinic due to the following signs, difficulty in urination, bloody urine, inappetence for 3 days and distended bladder. Ultrasonography reveals presence of crystals on his urinary bladder.
Catheterization was performed to relieve possible obstruction and to re-establish urine flow.

Meet KOFI, our Feline Panleukopenia Virus survivor who had just completed his vaccination program!

Feline panleukopenia is a highly contagious viral disease of cats caused by the feline parvovirus. Kittens are most severely affected by the virus. Cats can shed the virus in their urine, stool, and nasal secretions; infection occurs when susceptible cats come in contact with these secretions, or even the fleas from infected cats. Clinical signs include generalized depression, loss of appetite, fever, lethargy, vomiting, severe diarrhea, nasal discharge, and dehydration.
