Here are 5 very important initial tips for Off Leash Training your dog for outdoor activities: 1- Don’t rush the training process. Slow & steady is a crucial approach for solid results. 2- Don’t off leash your dog just because it won’t run away. Your dog will make a lot of mistakes and then turn it into a habit. If you let your dog off leash too early you will lose time trying to fix those “bad habits”, a time you could have used to train your dog through fun exercises instead having to try to correct it. 3- Keep your dog in a long line until it has a solid recall, coming to you 10 out of 10 times when it is recalled. 4-Spend time building the relationship with your dog by engaging in obedience exercises when you are outdoor, don’t become just a treat dispenser, invest time stimulating your dog’s working mindset. This practice will make your dog look up to you for guidance while off leash. 5- Build the foundation of your Off Leash training using very high value rewards, the ones your dog is absolutely crazy about, avoid using boring toys or treats. Lame rewards will directly affect the results of your training. Follow our page for more important Off Leash Hiking tips. How do we handle several off leash dogs around strangers at the trails? Off Leash Hiking Etiquette !
How do we handle several off leash dogs around strangers at the trails? Off Leash Hiking Etiquette ❤️ When hiking with our off leash dogs, we always give room for other people to pass without getting too close to our pack. There are so many reasons why we work in this way, I will list just a few: For the safety of my dogs, for the comfort of other people, some people don’t like being approached by dogs ( fear, allergies etc). In this video we see a family coming, and the dogs start looking back at me, waiting for voice commands or non verbal cues to know what to do and where to go. The secret to train a dog for the behavior you see in this video is very simple. Consistence. We always get out of the path when we see people. Sometimes we get out of the way and place the dogs in a sit position, sometimes I get out and keep moving foward, sometimes I even turn around if I see the other person has an off leash dog that is rushing to our pack and is not being recalled. We always temporarily leash some of our dogs, while passing close to people, if they don’t have a solid recall yet or if they are from bull baiting type breeds that can bring more fear to other people. Our Off Leash Hiking training style brought us here with a 100% trail accidents free. If you see us at the trails please know that we don’t mean to be rude when we don’t let our dogs interact with you and your dogs, we are just doing what is the best for everyone. #doghiking #dogtraininglife #dogtrainingvideos #dogtraining #dogtrainingtips #hiking #dog
