Journeyman fronts this morning . To obtain your certification of journeyman . You have to shoe a horse with toe clips up front and quarter clips on the hind also all shoes are handmade in a two hour time period.

Dressing feet properly . When dressing the foot you are only dressing the bevel you put in by gathering the foot on the bottom to have equal hoof wall around the hoof capsule . Only dress the bevel out when you bring the foot forward . You don’t need to dress the whole cause you are only maintaining the distortion of the foot so that shaping the shoe is easy and your shoe shape flows with the hoof capsule.

This morgan horse came from Montana where it spent the summer . This horse was shod 5 weeks ago . I was able to gather the foot and bring his angles back to align his boney column which in turn relieves stress on the tendons and ligaments.

Horse had a puncture at the frog from a framing nail. Made a 3/4 fullered barshoe for the horse and put a hospital plate on it so that is can get doctored and heal

Pair of sliding plates handmade out of 11 inches of 1/4x1 flat steel . Sliding plates are shoes used on the back feet of reining horses to help them slide across the ground while they are in the sliding stop. Sliders should be long and U-shaped. The toe should be round and rolled slightly. The shoe heel should be extended back past the heel bulbs to protect them from getting burnt during the maneuvers of a reiner or cowhorse or rope horse .
