Gisele had her puppies on May 31. It was an all day affair, from 9 am to 9 pm. She has 11 Schnoodle (Standard Poodle/Giant Schnauzer) F2 puppies that are absolutely adorable! I would not have been able to do it without the help of Molly & Devon, who were scheduled that day to help feed the horses. They were amazing & we worked really well as a team. Gisele was a trooper, even though she was exhausted by the end of the day.

Senior, 16 hh, chestnut AQH gelding. Solid and sound. We got him for our camp/lesson program, but not a good fit. He was once very well trained, ranch & trail ridden, but now in need of clear boundary setting & consistent riding. Loves attention, healthy & has a lot of good miles left on him.

Not for a beginner. Experienced adult rider only. Approved home only. Coggins and teeth done in March. (Have paperwork for both.) Located near Gainesville, Florida.

Will only respond to private messages PM - not comments. Serious inquiries only. Please leave your phone number.

Help wanted on horse farm. Riding time available

Looking for someone to help with mainly barn work at a small equestrian business 10 miles south west of Gainesville, and 5 miles from Archer.

Helping with feed time is usually 9 AM to 11 AM or 5 PM to 7 PM. Gentle, sweet, well trained horses. No stallions, yearlings or foals. Only one stall boarded Horse, who is more or less “toilet trained”. Work on special projects can be scheduled before or after so that you can maximize your return for the gas to get here. Might include helping with summer camp some. You can trade hours for riding time or lessons - or get paid.

Looking for Program Director for summer camp Archer, Florida (10 miles SW of Gainesville) - Get riding time, too!

The Program Director for summer camp (our 13th year) would work from 8:45 AM to 3:15 PM , Monday through Friday. There might be weeks when we don’t have enough campers signed up (minimum of three) & you are could take a week off (& could do some riding or lessons here at a discounted rate). Pay would increase if there were more campers signed up for the week. The base rate would be $400 per week. Prior experience with horses is necessary & experience teaching lessons very helpful. Usually we have interns &/or volunteers to help. Ride after 3:15, if you like.

Housemate arrangement available on a horse farm in Florida, that doesn’t involve trading work for rent. $750 a month, utilities included (but not Internet – I use my phone for Internet & streaming video. You can get Wi-Fi if you need). That’s one bedroom in my 3 bedroom house with me as your only housemate. Can be fully furnished or not. Kitchen, pantry, laundry & screened back porch. I have one young schnoodle (a cross between a giant schnauzer and a standard poodle, so she’s large). She’s still got a little puppy in her but is really sweet and loves people.

The farm is a small boarding/lessons/leasing & some trailrides barn. Low-key, low drama & peaceful environment. Room for vegetable garden or flower garden. (There already are some.)

I also have a spot to park an RV close to the house, if that is something you would prefer. Contact:

Seeking a free lease horse/pony or 2 for camp this summer at Canopy Oak Trails, a small equine facility. (It could be a lesson horse instead so that we don’t overuse the summer camp horses.) Two riding sessions per day. Natural horsemanship practiced and encouraged. Bitless bridles welcomed.

Great nutrition (your chosen feed or mine) and farrier care. You’re welcome to visit them on off days, if you like. You’d be giving them the gift of a more varied and regularly active life.

You can get an idea of what it’s like here by checking out our page at:

Then feel fee to call with any questions you might have. We can set up a time for you to visit the farm in person.

We are fortunate to have 3 excellent riding instructors who teach both English & Western & love teaching beginners & kids. We teache refresher lessons for those that haven’t ridden in many years and want to start again with good habits and proper form.

We teache advanced riders in Western riding, jumping & dressage.

At Canopy Oak Trails we have a 50’ wooden round pen, an arena great footing & jumps, dressage letters, barrels for barrel racing & an agility course. There are also excellent trails -- lot's of them to enjoy, if that is what you're looking for.

We have many Western & English bridles/saddles of various sizes available for your use, as well as helmets, crops, saddlebags, etc.

With the exception of the one hour private lessons, all other lessons will be $45/student. Private lessons will last 30 minutes, & group (2-4 riders) lessons a full hour. (Riders must be able to groom, tack and untack their own horse for semi private and group lessons.)

For those that would like to pay extra in order to have a full hour long private lesson, we still will offer that for $90. In fact, your first lesson should really be a one hour private lesson so that your instructor can evaluate your skills and know which groups would be the best ones for you to join.

We have a page with lots of photos at:

https://m.facebook.com/CanopyOakTrails/

Call or text to schedule your first lesson or a tour of our safe and scenic facility. I’d love to introduce you to the horses.

We also have a leasing program, starting at $100/ month for 1 ride/week for those taking weekly lessons. ($125 for those not.)

Lakota. 2011, 15.3 hh American Warmblood mare near Gainesville/Archer, Florida. Dressage or jumper prospect. Trained in dressage in her early years & jumped in lessons here in 2020. Beautiful mover, but never showed. Responds to light touch & soft hands. Super smooth canter!

Has great pedigree for breeding, too. (Dutch Warmbloods/TB’s.) Art Deco, Storm Bird, Northern Dancer & Bold Reason to name a few. *For more, see image of pedigree. Recent reproductive ultrasound.

Medium dominance in field. Pasture kept, but ok with being stalled. Very sweet & affectionate. Call or text 352-4 four 3-9four56

Canopy Oak Trails is offering a more advanced summer camp week from June 5th through 9th. There would be at least one lesson with each of our instructors Ms Sally & Ms Brianna, in which cantering & jumping would be taught/pollished. There would still be unmounted lessons & crafts, but the riding lessons would be more advanced & the relays/games would be more challenging. Campers will be doing a choreographed dressage routine and also some trail rides (with counselors on horseback). The cost would be $400/week (subtract $25 off for siblings or multiple weeks).

There might be a second, similar week, that of July 17, if there is sufficient interest.

Please call or text Susan at 352–4four3–9four56 with any questions or to reserve your space for the week.

We are located 10 miles from Gainesville, 4.5 miles from Archer & 9 miles from Williston.

SUMMER HORSE CAMP INTERNS & VOLUNTEERS

Canopy Oak Trails equine facility (10 minutes SW of Gainesville) is offering summer internships & opportunities to volunteer, assisting with our 12th year of summer horse camp. Camp will run from 6/5 - 7/28.

Interns would help part of the time in the barn & part with camp. They would assist w/feeding, turnout, rinsing buckets, cleaning stalls, minor medical treatment, etc., as well as assisting with camp.

Interns would work 8 hours/day (one person 8-4 & the other 9-5), Mon through Fri.
Housing is available (if needed) & a small weekly stipend (starting at $50/week), increasing w/more camp attendance.

Volunteers could work as little or as much as they like, but would need to make out a schedule. Anyone working at least 8 hours in a week would get free riding time, after 4pm, on the weekend, weeks when there are no campers or the two weeks before or after camp is over.

In addition to help during the duration of summer camp, we could also use help getting set up for summer camp, which would take about a week. Also, in weeks when we don’t have the minimum number of campers registered, volunteers can ride then. Interns would still work 6 hour days, feeding & doing projects on the farm, plus would ride the horses at least 2 hours (could be trail rides, relays on horseback or group lessons).

You can scroll back to lots of photos from previous years of summer camps on our page at:

https://m.facebook.com/CanopyOakTrails/

Potential interns please text or email a resume, list of experience & references to:

Volunteers can just contact me to express their interest and projected availability.

Last night long time horsewoman & our Saturday instructor, Sally Bina, lost her only vehicle to a fire. There were no injuries, thank goodness, but she only had liability insurance on her truck. That means she now needs to buy a new vehicle out of pocket.

We will donate our share of any lessons Sally teaches for new clients from now until the end of February. If you take a lesson from Sally in that time period, 100% of the lesson fee will go to Sally. Located near Archer, FL. Please call Susan at 352–443–9456 to schedule.

Safe Horse Handling & Grooming

Canopy Oak Trails (Archer, FL) offers one hour private or group lessons in how to safely & effectively catch, halter, lead & groom a horse - using natural horsemanship techniques. A perfect opportunity for people who love horses, but feel timid about being close to them & for parents of kids that are taking riding lessons & would like to be able to help with haltering or getting the horse ready for lessons. It’s great for kids that need a little more instruction & practice than they get in the regular lesson. For age 6 to 99.

Students can progress to lessons in groundwork and riding, if they like.

Wednesdays and Thursdays in January will be taught by visiting expert, jAN Brooks, Happy Horse Happy Life instructor.

OSTEOPATHY BEFORE SHOW SEASON? ABSOLUTELY!

"Where movement is restricted, disease spreads".

Similar to clockwork. If the individual gears can no longer mesh precisely, the entire system comes to a standstill. As a holistic treatment concept, osteopathy detects functional and movement restrictions (protective posture, compensation mechanisms) and eliminates them. This activates the body's self-healing powers, which help the patient regain a natural balance. In addition to the skeletal system (parietal osteopathy), the organs (visceral osteopathy), fascia (fascial osteopathy) and the so-called craniosacral rhythm are included in the treatment as part of this gentle manual form of therapy. Diseases correlate with a restricted movement of the body structures (muscles, fascia, ligaments, joints, bones). The prerequisite of health is the supply and disposal of cells via nerves, blood vessels and the ability to heal themselves. Scars, muscle tension or blockages disrupt the body's self-regulation and promote diseases. Dysfunctions are detected by palpating the body and solved using manual methods.
