This is Wilson Phillips. She was an abandoned puppy on the street of Guatemala, and she was brought home to join a loving home. Wilson has been coming to Love Dogs Camp for daycare for the past four years. When she started, she would not allow anyone to touch her. Today, she showers us with affection and zoomies of joy. Wilson is playing in the yard with many friends and then taking a break on a sofa. We love Wilson!!!

Hey there, I'm Bubba, your friendly neighborhood pitbull mix with a whole lot of love to give. At 3 years old, I'm living my best life, ready to spread joy and happiness wherever I go. I may have some funny-looking ears and bright blue eyes that catch your attention, but it's my sweet personality that'll steal your heart. I'm all about playtime, cuddles, and soaking up every moment with you. Whether it's going for a walk, playing fetch, or just lounging around the house, I'm happy as long as I'm by your side. Seriously, I'll do just about anything as long as it means I get to spend time with you. Whether it's a game of tug-of-war or a snuggle session on the couch, count me in! All I want in this world is your love and affection, and I'll do whatever it takes to make you smile. So, if you're looking for a furry friend who's equal parts sweet, playful, and downright adorable, look no further than yours truly. What's up everyone! Who am I? WHAT am I? I'm a Jefferson. I'm a 4 year-old bulldog mix! I promise. I even have the DNA results to prove it.
I'm a goofy guy who loves herding jolly balls. Think of me as your personal, four-legged entertainment system. I know tons of tricks, so be ready for some impressive (and occasionally hilarious) performances.
At first, I might seem a bit aloof, but give me some time outside the kennel, and you'll see my affectionate side shine. I'm like an onion-lots of layers, and I might make you cry...from laughing! I do best in a home without other dogs, cats, or small children. I'm looking for a family who appreciates a dog with a flair for the dramatic and a heart full of love.

My dog, Wilson Phillips, goes to Love Dogs Camp. She was a tiny, sick pup abandoned by her street dog mom when my daughter took her to her home in Guatemala. Months later my daughter returned from Guatemala with Wilson.
Wilson had serious anxiety and would bark at dogs and people she did not know. A trainer was helping Wilson. The trainer soon moved to Love Dogs Camp, and we followed.
We love that she has room to run, and the Love Dogs Camp staff foster good relations between the dogs. The staff play with the dogs, and they always supervise the dogs. Wilson has made friends - humans and dogs. She knows how to greet new dogs and how to play. Wilson loves Carolyn and often chooses to start her day with a visit. I appreciate that there are a variety of places on the property with toys and activities. Wilson is happy there and “good tired” at the end of the day.

I have brought my dogs, Deiter and Maya, to Love Dogs Camp for more than eight years. Love Dogs Camp is truly special. Carolyn and her team are passionate about the wellbeing of dogs, and they engage Deiter and Maya based on their unique personalities. The Staff closely monitors the dogs, and the environment is safe. They do not spend their time in kennels. I never worry when Deiter and Maya are in their care.
I use daycare, grooming, and boarding services at Love Dogs Camp. Deiter and Maya attend daycare twice per week. They get unstructured running and digging and playtime with other dogs while at camp and enjoy Carolyn’s special lunches. I am not able to do this for them at home. I credit their time at camp with their manners and ability to interact with dogs of all sizes and personalities. It’s very convenient for me to have them groomed and bathed during their daycare. I have needed to board Deiter and Maya – sometimes for extended periods of time. It is a relief to know I can leave them in a safe place they know and enjoy.
Maya and Deiter love going to Love Dogs Camp, and it is now part of their routine.

You know when you want to take your dog to the dog park, but you’re wary because you don’t know what kind of dogs will be there or how they’ll behave? Carolyn Leighton might have thought about just this when she wanted to create a place for dogs monitored only by people who know and love dogs.
I was lucky enough to reach Carolyn when I found Love Dogs Camp on the Internet. We had just lost a dog with behavioral issues, and we wanted to make sure we started off on the right foot with our miniature Dachshund puppy, Maverick. She spent a long time talking with me about what I was looking for, what type of dog I had, what my experiences had been so far, and more. I know now that it’s important to her to really know her clients.
Hidden in the backroads of Arroyo Grande is a place called Love Dogs Camp: acreage where the dogs can run and play together, watched and constantly related to by professional dog trainers. As the dogs interact, behaviors are noted and corrected on the spot. Play is geared not only toward using energy, but also toward learning. During a six-hour session, the dogs play and learn, have lunch together, and then kick back and relax. No crates, no isolation! Since learning about their meals of real food, I have started feeding Maverick differently at home: unseasoned chicken, potato, rice, carrots, or apple chopped into his kibble.
When I pick Maverick up at the end of the day, Brett, the training manager, tells me about the activities of the day. I take home lessons that I can reinforce. I’ve learned house training tips, how to stop Maverick from “marking” indoors, how to handle the evening “zoomies” when I’m exhausted from my day, and how to work with Maverick on leash.
Knowing that my dog is being happily and lovingly taken care of, not isolated in a crate for hours at a time, allows me to manage the rest of my life and home. I have time for myself for community activities like my book club and hiking group. I go grocery shopping without concern about leaving my dog unattended. At the end of the day, little Maverick comes home relaxed and content, and I have a dog that integrates seamlessly into my home life.

Love Dogs Camp offers a unique board and training program with a comprehensive package that helps dogs quickly build skills through dedicated attention by our expert and professional trainer.
We specialize in helping dogs improve overall manners, behavior modification, socialization, indoor etiquette, and cues and commands. We use cooperative training methods consistent with Love Dogs Camp’s holistic approach for optimal health and wellbeing which is kind, respectful, patient, fear-free, fun, and fulfilling.
Dogs are taught through extensive one on one sessions. Learning is applied to real life situations including impulse control activities, enrichment games that fulfill their needs, and play and socialization that improve their pack drive training. After the day is done, they learn to settle and behave in the house.
We work with each dog individually to help them become a more emotionally, mentally, physically confident dog through our well-rounded Board and Train Service.
Dogs gain full attention from the trainer, all day and night. Training is integrated through their boarding time. No more than two dogs work with the trainer at any point in time.
