Ziggy here, popping in to say hello and share some exciting updates for 2024.

There have been a lot of power tools and package deliveries going on here stressing me out! To make up for it, mom finally agreed to increase my allowance and the treat budget. Meaning more delicious snacks and peanut butter for everyone! Oh, and she said something about holiday hours, prices, and the pool...but I only care about the snacks. 🦴🥜

Our WagHab staff have worked so hard this year to maintain the outstanding services and dedication we are known for. It is truly a joy for us to provide such unique, compassionate, and quality care for your best friends.

This sweet pup is looking for a furever home!

Her name is Azule (🧿) and is likely a Catahoola/Ridgeback mix. She was found on the side of the road with a broken leg. She had FHO surgery and some femur fractures she is still recovering from. The sweet human who found Azule has brought her to us for rehabilitation and recovery from her injuries. But she needs a forever home! Reach out to us if you are interested!

Help us in welcoming our newest practitioner Dr. Morgan Dixon, DVM, CVA, CTPEP, CVTP

Dr. Dixon practices exclusively Physical Rehabilitation Therapy and Acupuncture. She provides comprehensive evaluations and therapy plans for orthopedic and neurologic patients with a passion for helping senior pets and their mobility challenges. She has a special interest in using rehabilitation therapy and integrative medicine to treat degenerative myelopathy.

A University of Florida alumna, her professional experience includes emergency medicine, primary care, exotic pet medicine and founding a mobile acupuncture and end of life practice.

She and her adopted German Shorthaired Pointer, Vedder, are new to Asheville and look forward to trails, cider, art and new friends.

Hello Friends! We have been made aware of a new construction project near us that may slow traffic to our building. Starting Sunday 5/21-Thursday 5/25 (tentatively) Brevard Road/191 will be under construction starting at Bent Creek Church down to Ledbetter road in Avery Creek. We will do our best to accommodate appointments that are late due to uncontrollable traffic issues, but we ask that you do your part by leaving early and giving extra time.

Dog of the week: DOLLY🐶

Dolly Likes: ☀️Sunnin' on the deck, playing ball by herself🎾where she taps the ball with her nose to roll it and then goes after it, hide-n-seek toys

Dolly Dislikes: When her beagle brother Cash tries to take her toys from her and when she has to stay in the crate while Mom is gone.

Favorite Activities: Playing with Mom, doing tricks for treats, cleaning her sisters ears, and walking on the water treadmill at WagHab!!💦

4 year old Dolly comes to rehab after Grade 5 IVDD surgery where she was only given a 50% chance of being able to walk again. After 6 months at WagHab, Dolly took her first "land steps" Easter weekend at home!

Dolly is such a resilient pup. She continues to amaze us! We love Dolly!!😍

Dog of the Week: DAISY🐶

Likes: Meeting everyone, all animals, her new role as “Queen”👑

Dislikes: Getting up before 10 am, having to hurry.

Favorite Activities: Sleeping, sunbathing☀️, leisurely strolls where she can sniff EVERY blade of grass or ride in her stroller, daily bathes from her brother Ray Ray.

Why does your dog come to rehab? Like many French Bulldogs Daisy has IVDD (intervertebral disc disease). On Jan 26 she suffered a disc herniation in her neck and became essentially paralyzed from the neck down. Thanks to the wonderful vet management at Upstate, 24/7 nursing care at home, and the the miracle workers here at Waghab, she started walking after just six weeks! She continues to improve in strength and coordination, what an amazing recovery for this geriatric girl who turns 13 in May.

We love you, Daisy! ❤️

Dog of the Week: ROSIE 🐶

Likes: treats!🦴🍖

Dislikes: getting her ears cleaned, nail trims, long walks

Favorite Activities: swimming at Waghab! 💦rolling in the grass, snuggling, napping, going for car rides🚗

Why does your dog come to rehab? To strengthen her legs and improve her agility and balance.

Rosie is the sweetest girl and a super swimmer!😍

Dog of the Week: HERSHEY🐕

Likes - Everybody! Adults, children, and other dogs. 🐾And especially everyone at Wag Hab!

Dislikes- sirens and Miss Daisy, our cat.🐈‍⬛He really likes her but he is just jealous of any attention that I give to her.

Favorite activities- walks, playing with his toys and car rides🚗especially when it includes a treat at the pharmacy drive through and the bank!

Hershey started at Wag Hab because he has had multiple surgeries on his left leg. The leg was very weak, he was limping and not putting very much weight on it. But he has finally turned a corner with his underwater treadmill and laser therapy. He is now walking 23 minutes in the underwater treadmill and his form has improved so much.

Our staff adores Hershey and loves to see his happy face! ❤️

Dog of the Week: GHOST👻

Likes: Going to visit friends at WagHab, playing w doggos🐕hiking, cuddling under the blankets, Himalayan cheese chews, FOOD!🥓

Dislikes: Not being able to play ball, getting a bath, having his nails cut🛁

Favorite activities: hikes, Peanut butter lick mats, snuggling!

Ghost comes to rehab due to a chronic limp that resting didn’t alleviate. His mom says he has benefited so much from WagHab! Our staff adores him and loves making him happy with peanut butter!

Dog of the Week: CASPER🐶

Likes: coming to waghab for theraphy, especially swimming 💦
Everyone, he's a gentle giant who loves to give kisses😘
Whimzee dental treats, belly rubs, snuggling & snow❄️

Dislikes: being told "no", having nails trimmed & feet being messed with, baths, thunderstorms ⚡️⛈️, loud noises & especially trying to lose weight.

Favorite activities: hanging out & chilling with mom, car rides🚗, walks, and obviously his WagHab time.

Casper comes to WagHab after rupturing 2 discs in spine, hemielaminectomy, paralysis of hind legs. Our goal is to increase muscle strength & walking ability.

Congrats to Remy! He has recovered from bilateral CCL injuries with conservative rehab. We are very impressed by his hard work and so happy we could help this sweet boy avoid surgery. There are many benefits to rehab therapy, but this might be the best one! Send him all your love and well wishes.

Dog of the week: HARLEY🐶

Likes: She loves kitten
cuddles and bones. 🐈‍⬛

Dislikes: She doesn’t like when she’s not getting cuddles and also doesn’t like going outside in the rain. ☔️

These days she loves going on walks in the park and her biweekly visits to Waghab.

She has been going to Waghab for almost a year because she has degenerative myelopathy but she likes to be active so the water treadmill is perfect for her.

Give a big welcome to our newest team member Anna! She has a passion for all animals and currently volunteers with caring for pigs, llamas, chickens, and turkeys. She is eager to learn more about animal rehab therapy and hopes to bring rehab to the farm animals she helps care for. Say hello when you see her and welcome her to the team. We are so excited to have her!

Dog of the Week: THEO🐶

Theo was rescued from the second largest dogfighting case in the country in 2013, as an 8 month old adolescent, and works with his momma as the best dog trainer's helper dog ever. He has the knack of making almost any dog feel comfortable.

Theo likes all humans, all dogs, cats, chickens, horse and goats, bully sticks, and likimats with extra peanut butter.

He dislikes mornings, cold weather, rain, and dinners that are late.

Favorite activities: pibbling (obvs), making art, sunbathing, chewing on stuff, nibbling on horse candy, making friends with cats, trying to sit on laps, and sharing meals with humans.

Theo is on the Waghab Frequent Flyers Plan for arthritis of the everything, and most recently, to rehab from his latest knee surgery, in September. He is also a hemangiosarcoma survivor!!❤️

Dog of the Week: HERSHEY🐶
Likes- Everyone, especially all of his friends at Wag Hab, treats and his food.

Dislikes - his feet being touched and Miss Daisy, our cat, on mom’s lap.

Favorite activities- Going on walks, riding in the car and playing with his toys.

Why he is at Wag Hab- Hershey had 3 surgeries on his left leg and was not using it very much. With underwater treadmill, laser and exercises he has improved so much and feels so much better!

WagHab is so happy to have Hershey as a patient😍He is one special pup!

Congrats to Tupelo on completing his rehab! He came to us in August after having infected plates removed from a previous TPLO surgery. He has regained muscle and is doing great at home! ♥️🎓
