A balanced adult dog should have inappropriate behaviors corrected when they are pups. Feeding is an excellent opportunity to teach sharing, slow eating, trust and all around good behavior. Notice I gently remove the growling pup, wait for him to relax and let him return to eating when calm.
Good balanced dogs should begin their training as puppies. Even if you cannot take them out until their vaccinations are completed there is plenty you can do to start them on the path to great citizenship. The only tools needed are patience and timing. Feeding time can address calmness and eliminate any food aggression that could start.

Communication is key in all relationships. Especially when a young dog is being targeted at doggie daycare. Buttercup, a deaf dog, responded to other dogs with aggression. We worked to deescalate that aggression and replace it with calm confidence.
