Friends of Frannie is a global goodwill project supporting the Frannie Legacy a part of Frankie and Andy's Place community outreach program Helping Hands Healing Paws. The 'Friends of Frannie' junior club page was created as a part of the 'Frannie Legacy Project' and its wonderful 'Frannie and the Skunk who couldn't Skunk' children's book by Pat Mitchell. This 'super dooper adventure' follows the
exciting journey of the incredible terrier-mix Frannie on her two-wheeled cart as she helps new friend Sammy find a forever home and family. Along the way, they meet Earl the Squirrel and Slim the Snake and discover that everyone is born just right, AND that everyone has something to teach us about what family means. This is a heartwarming tale about friendship, acceptance and teamwork that has provided the inspiration and framework for this wonderful "Friends of Frannie" social media outreach initiative. This youth centered page forms the foundation of our Junior club, where all posts are designed to be read and enjoyed by our younger followers, the very children who have enjoyed the Frannie story! We hope that the posts and stories about dogs like Frannie, and some of her friends that still live at Frankie and Andy's Place, will help children to recognize and understand some universal issues, maybe then finding a parallel in their own lives that they can then discuss and seek help with from teachers, parents and friends. It is also a chance to celebrate the community visits undertaken by the amazing Frankie and Andy's Place volunteers, who meet the needs of the community by visiting elder facilities, special needs classrooms and differently-abled daycare facilities. In this way, we aim to teach our junior readers that service to the community and spreading smiles is a very worthwhile and uplifting pursuit, that in helping others we actively help ourselves. Woven into each post is a unique and positive life lesson or message of hope to encourage our junior followers, but in a way that they can read easily and closely identify with...and of course, nothing does that better than a post about a kindly pooch! Please encourage your children to come on a wonderful journey of discovery with us as we unveil the delightful stories behind our magical woodland sanctuary in the woods, home to the sweetest dogs on the planet!
