*REUNITED*
Do you know our family?
Picked up unrestrained at Northwoods in Pinconning. If these are your dogs, please contact the shelter with proof of ownership to reclaim ๐พ
We still have a couple of LOVELY kittens on the adoption floor - these cuties are between 3 and 4 months old, already fixed and vaccinated, and ready to find forever families ๐ฅฐ
*Update returned for chasing squirrels :( Once again available for adoption*
"I could never do what you guys do"
We hear that from a lot of people.
But Zara here is exactly why we do what we do. She's a love sponge. A velcro dog. Waiting for one special person to call her own. She's the last thing we see before we turn off the lights for the night, when we tell all of the dogs that we'll see them again in the morning (even though we'd rather not - we'd rather they sleep soundly on a comfy couch, in a forever home).
We know her person is out there - they just haven't found her yet โค๏ธ
*ADOPTED*
It's finally time...Crispin is ready for adoption!
Some of you may remember us posting this boy a couple of weeks ago, after his enucleation (eye removal) surgery. He's finally ready to start interviewing for a forever home ๐พ
Crispy is probably one of the most affectionate cats you'll ever meet. What does this mean?
He's pushy about his love. He should probably go to a home with another youngish cat to help keep him busy. If not, don't be surprised if he develops a habit of waking you up at 2am looking for hugs. He's also the type to crawl up a pant leg or jump on your back for attention, so he'd probably be a bit overwhelming for little kids. He's codependency in cat form ๐
Think you can handle that much affection? Visit our office or message us for an application!
Who's looking for a dog-friendly dog???
Zuri and Penny are both healed up from their spay/neuter surgeries, and ready to find their forever homes!
Both these pups are 8-9 months old, with Zuri being (likely) husky/pittie mix and Penny being aussie shep/heeler mix. Both need some continued work on their puppy manners, so we're recommending homes with kids over 12 (especially for Penny, as her herding instincts are strong!), but both have done very well with canine friends, and would likely prefer homes with a doggy playmate ๐ฅฐ
It's been a busy week!
Yesterday, staff was in early for our monthly spay/neuter transport...we sent almost 30 kitties, and 5 dogs out for surgery ๐ Everyone is back today and in recovery - most will be available for adoption starting next Monday for the start of Empty the Shelters!
Our Cat of the Week, Darlene, checking in!
She (and her kitten David, also shown) is still looking for her forever home...don't forget, as one of our Pets of the Week her adoption fee is half off through Saturday ๐
Big thanks to Pet Supplies Plus - Bay City, MI for bringing over the frozen treats for our doggos today...it's much appreciated in this heat!
These are our kennels, as most of you never get to see them.
Quiet. Calm. Dogs busy with enrichment, and comfortable around the staff members that they know.
We've had lots of comments lately about the noise levels, and the amount of barking, and even a couple visitors accusing our dogs of being "aggressive".
But this right here is why we ask visitors not to judge our dogs based on their kennel behaviors. Strangers constantly walking through is stressful. Overexcited or upset children are stressful. Our dogs get overstimulated and overexcited, which leads to excessive barking and stressed kennel behaviors.
If you are genuinely interested in adding a canine family member to your home, ask our staff about our dogs. Let us help you find a good match for your living situation. Be respectful of the fact that our kennels are over-full, and help us reduce unwanted kennel stress - Don't stick hands or fingers into kennels. Let children who maybe can't handle the noise stay home unless you have an appointment set up with a specific dog for a meet. And please take note of the kennel etiquette that's posted when you enter both our office and the kennels.
Let's make the time that our shelter residents stay with us as pleasant as possible, for both our pets and our visitors โค๏ธ
We just moved *14* newly adoptable kittens up to the adoption floor for the LAST DAY of #emptytheshelters ๐
Come visit them today for your last chance to adopt for only $25!
It's the last day for #emptytheshelters and we have some lovely dogs and kitties still waiting to meet you!
Stop in this afternoon and meet your new best friend ๐ฅฐ
Who likes their kittens with mittens?
We've got some SUPER cute polydactyl babies available for adoption starting tomorrow ๐ป We don't currently have room for them on the adoption floor, but stop in to our office and fill out an application for pre-approval in order to meet these kids - they qualify for Empty the Shelters through Monday!
*PENDING ADOPTION* ๐ฅณ
Looking for a big kitty?
We've got your girl!
Meet Persia - this girl came to us in neglected condition and very badly matted. She's had a partial shave, been brought up to date on her medical, and is ready to start looking for her forever โค๏ธ
Interested in meeting her? Please call our office to set up an appointment time, as she is too big to fit in our public room cages and as such isn't currently on the adoption floor ๐พ
