Doctors Andrew and Susan Kliewer purchased the practice on January 1, 1994, and soon after changed the name to Heartland Pet Hospital. We currently have four veterinarians and a hardworking, caring, compassionate team. We continually provide training and educational opportunities for our staff, so that we may better serve your pet's health care needs. Heartland Pet Hospital is a companion animal hospital with two locations: Bellevue & Papillion. We provide convenient hours to serve your pet's needs. Our primary focus is wellness and preventative medicine that starts with your puppy or kitten and continues into their senior years. The Heartland Way
We care for your pet like they were our own. Unfortunately, that means we too have been through tough times. Our very own Tracey, had her dog become acutely down in her back end. As a part of her recovery, her family made this ramp to make the back steps more accessible from scrap wood and “Skid Guard safety tape” from Menards (Cost $5.50). Experience matters and here at Heartland Pet Hospital we can help you and your pet overcome their obstacles with empathy and compassion. Please reach out to a team member if you need anything!

IT'S GETTING CLOSE TO THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN.....FIREWORKS! Please make sure your pet's are safe and if you are needing to get a refill of anxiety medication for the festivities, please don't hesitate to give us a call.
We do have a few asks of you:
1. Is your pet current on an annual exam? This is a requirement for our Doctor's to prescribe any medication. If you are unsure please give us a call and we can look that information up for you.
2. Did the medication you used last year work with your pet? If so, how many days will you need that medication for your pet? Please let us know when calling for a refill.
3. Please allow our teams 24 hours to fill medication, we will call / text when the medication is ready for pick up.

As always if you have any questions please do not hesitate to call us. We want to make sure everyone is safe!

Dr. Katie Vanden Hull is honored to provide care for UNC’s assistance dog, Re*****on while he’s here for the NCAA College World Series. Re*****on had a minor medical problem that was able to be fixed during his visit to Omaha. Dr. Vanden Hull & Savannah, LVT went to the team’s training room after their practice yesterday & saw him in action. After his minor medical procedure, our Heartland Team had him back and munching on bananas so he could get to his birthday festivities! Re*****on is supported by UNC’s amazing head athletic trainer and you can read about his hard work here:

Happy Birthday to our Practice Manager, Jen! If you haven’t had a chance to meet her yet, she is our wonderful leader that keeps both of our hospitals running smoothly and happily! We won’t tell you her age but she has been around the block! She not only oversees the business side of things but has technical skills & even fills in at the front desk as needed. You have probably seen her frenchie Curtis but she also has a passion for bird dogs like her girl Kate. Thank you for all you do Jen and enjoy celebrating your birthday today!

Mali Mae was spayed by Dr. Vanden Hull today and revealed that she had sharky rows of teeth! It’s important that animals “lose” their baby teeth to prevent tartar accumulation and malocclusion. We make sure any baby teeth who hang around too long are removed while they’re under anesthesia for their spay or neuter!

We wanted to take a moment to make a suggestion and ask a few questions.
Do you have pet insurance for your pet(s) in your household?
Have you ever heard of pet insurance but was not sure if it was worth it?

If you answered no to either of these questions, keep reading. If you answered yes to either of these questions, keep reading.

The importance of veterinary pet insurance is to make sure that your pet(s) are covered for any unforeseen or foreseen medical expenses. We know pet(s) are not cheap and we want to make sure we keep everyone informed or a few options.
Pet insurance may allow you to pay for that unexpected emergency or those annual exams and vaccines. A few suggestions would be to check out this website to research all of the options - tailored to you and your pets needs. www.petinsurancereview.com/myvet
OR
Contact your homeowners/renters/vehicle insurance company - they MAY have pet insurance coverage that you didn't know about.

**we are not affiliated with any one pet insurance company/organization**

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact us for any questions.

We always recommend year-round prevention. We wanted to provide a few links for you to take a peek at and call us if you have any questions.
