Walter () went to his forever home yesterday. He is going to be a for . He loves his new mama and we couldn’t ask for a better future for this rambunctious fellow.
We can’t wait to see his training progress from states away with his new trainers and Nia.

We’ve been working on “stay” at the threshold and the are doing AMAZING!
This really helps with impulse control and is super important to learn!
Mama Kenzie is in the corner and is being a really good example for her babies!

Tell me you have a without telling me you have a service dog?
Look at all these enrichment toys! Encouraging your dog (especially your Service Dog) to *think* helps build their brain. And puppies are so motivated that nothing makes them think quite like a food puzzle!

Walter () is training for public access! He goes to his forever home where he gets to help his human in just a couple weeks - and he is ready!
He gets all kinds of feel good chemicals when we do training in a happy mood and he gets to eat all kinds of yummy food. He’s a rockstar at squeezing into tight spaces to stay out of the way, but still be close to his human.

Bamba went to yesterday to practice helping her person () at restaurants and learning how to do unders for a long time. We ended up hanging out for over an hour and Bamba was calm, well-behaved, and even took a nap! At 12 weeks old, this is super impressive!
She really is a ! ❤️🐶

“Happy Monday!”
The puppies are getting older and it’s time to say goodbye but we are so happy and excited to see what amazing work they do with their people! That’s what being a is all about.
So while it may be bittersweet, we know that we aren’t raising these puppies for us - they are for their people.
Ellie, Bamba, Walter, go to their forever homes in June and the next month is all about intensive training to make sure they are AMAZING service dogs to their humans. But based on these smiles, they enjoy the job! 😄

This was from the first outing a couple weeks ago to Home Depot.
They practiced paying attention to their handlers with lots of new things around and even just visiting a new space. And they all did AMAZING (of course they did, they are Wonder Pups).

KENZIE IS 4 YEARS OLD!
There’s a lot of pictures lately (for obvious reasons - no. 1 - they are just too adorable) but Kenzie - the original is 4 years old today!
She is a wonderful mama, a wonderful friend, a wonderful service dog, and a wonderful addition to our family.
We are so grateful to her as an example to the puppies as they get ready for their homes and we know they are going to be just as wonderful as she is!
Happy birthday Kenzie! 🎉🥳🎊

The are 8 weeks old today!!
They are getting so big that they barely fit in the frame!
A couple of the pups are going to their forever homes to start helping their humans in the next few weeks and the rest are going to stay until June to continue their service dog training.
Watching these cuties grow in size and smarts has been an amazing journey!

Mama Kenzie is playing with her on this beautiful spring day!
Having a role model dog around (like Kenzie) is an amazing experience for young puppies - especially future service dogs!
They learn early how to be calm, how to listen, and how to behave.
Seeing Mama play with these pups is such a good way to see the bond they have as a family. ❤️
Service dogs truly are a blessing.

Titus is a that will grow up to be a service dog! He is brave and loving. He is energetic and needs a human who can keep up with him and keep him active.
He will be continuing to live and train with us and the other until he is 4 months.
He’s still looking for his human and would be a wonderful helper and companion to someone who needs him.

Meet Romeo!
Romeo is a that is going to be working toward being a Service Dog.
He is sweet and cuddly.
He loves to climb into laps and give snuggles - he really lives up to his name so far! (FYI - names can be changed by the person who adopts him as a service dog!)
He is going to be a wonderful helper to whoever ends up with this adorable face.

It’s a puppy run!
The are starting to explore outside more and more.
They are all so bold with experiencing new textures and scents and things! All these are great signs for public access training.
It means that they are getting used to sounds, scents, and textures which means they will be less likely to be spooked by new and scary noises or objects in the world!

Puppy day might be over, but it’s always puppy day here!
The are 6 weeks old today!
We are really starting to get into the early service dog training that these pups will need to help their people.
4 of the 7 puppies are spoken for and are starting the process of bonding with their humans, but 3 of them are still waiting for their human to help serve. and are going to be amazing service dogs for their humans, when they find them.
We know it is an big decision to start working with a service dog - it’s a commitment and expensive - but it can be life saving.
When only 30% of puppies that are training to be service dogs make it through training as fully-fledged service dogs - it makes sense why waiting lists are so long for agencies.

Did someone say ?
The sure are wonderful.
Puppies that are ready to be trained to be service dogs are few and far between! Around 70% of puppies in training to be service dogs “wash out” or end up not being service dogs. Part of the decision is temperament but a huge part of it is the way they are trained in the beginning.
Wonderpuppies are trained using from birth! This sets them up to be amazing service dogs for their humans!

This puppy backpack is how we are starting to introduce the to visiting stores and public access training. Romeo is showing us how to relax and just hang out in this type of training. Which is a great indicator of how he’ll continue to behave as we keep working on public access! He sure is a Wonderpup.

As the grow, they start to play more.
Over the past week, they’ve been playing more and more. Including with each other (tugging ropes and wrestling). This means that they will be able to play with other dogs and are getting very social.
Today the puppies are 5 weeks old! Their personalities are starting to really show and we are starting to be able to see who will make excellent service dogs and who will make amazing emotional support dogs.

are Service Dogs. And not every dog will be a Wonderpup. It’s hard work to be a service dog (or medical alert dog).
The (all of Kenzie’s puppies) are bred and trained to have the best chance to be service dogs. Some won’t be though. Some are going to be Emotional Support Animals and some will be Therapy Dogs. All the puppies are already undergoing training and stimulations and experiences to make them be the best at what they do.
Service dogs are hard to find and service dog breeders are even harder. Kenzie won’t be bred more than a few times because she is a working dog and that’s true for a lot of working service dogs.

The are getting more and more playful and more and more loving. They are interested more and more in people and playing.
All the puppies are bred to be either Service Dogs, Therapy Dogs, or ESAs. Unfortunately, not all dogs can be service dogs, but all these pups will have the base training to be able to learn tasks and, at least, provide love and companionship to their humans.
It can be hard to find service dog (in training) puppies - let alone puppies that will have the level of training these sweet babies will have.

We call this Mama Mountain. The are really enjoying human contact and are pretty attached to their human mama. Because those little puppy teeth are making their way in, we are starting to see Mama Kenzie want to nurse less. (Which is totally normal and expected).
The puppies are 25 days old today and have started entering their first fear period. Just like human babies, they are noticing the world around them more and are a bit more apprehensive now. We notice more startles and more nerves around newer scents. But they move through it quickly and do best if we continue to expose them to new things while also providing extra love and support.

At just over 3 weeks, the are getting closer to weaning. We are aiming for about 4 weeks, but we are starting to feel some sharp puppy teeth coming in, so the puppies have started to experiment with different foods. This is goats milk! (Which is easier to digest than dairy milk)
Experimenting with foods is a good way to determine who is “food motivated” which is something that makes training - especially intense brain training for service dogs - easier. Cause super high value treats make it more fun to learn new tasks!

Look at this change in 3 weeks! The are 3 weeks old today and are growing and learning so much. All of them are walking and they are trying different types of more solid foods. Their different personalities are really starting to show and so is their independence!
Kenzie’s person has been gone for a while and she gets more anxious without her person. Her primary job is always helping and alerting her person - and now she is working hard as a mommy.

The feeding races! We instructed Kenzie to lay down and then watched the puppies make their way over to her. This is a really interesting way to see their problem solving skills (Beijo and Romeo had to figure out how to reach her ni***es from her chest) and their scenting ability (Esme and Keifer made their way over pretty quickly). Look at them go (and grow)!

The are starting to wobble-walk the last couple days! Things move so quickly in these first few weeks, that soon they’ll be running and playing!
In this video, Esme is walking on this surface for the first time and she is unphased! This is a type of ENS to help get those fresh little paws used to new sensations! She also marched right over to a new sound (scratching on the pad to get her attention) which is such a great indicator of a service dog! Unafraid! We also have a new descriptor for Esme - relentless!
