Brightening up your feed with the most photogenic Aussie there ever was! 😍🐾

Dr. Katie Lock, our Board-Certified Small Animal Internist, and Chelsea, Veterinary Technician, met with Zoey at Caldwell Mill Animal Clinic recently to perform an abdominal ultrasound. 🩺

Zoey has been experiencing some abnormal urinary symptoms, and Dr. Lock and Chelsea wanted to take a better look at her kidneys and bladder. She was the most perfect angel and we hope she starts feeling better soon! ❤️👏🏼

🚨 NEW PARTNER ALERT!🚨

Dr. Katie Lock and Chelsea were invited into Grants Mill Animal Hospital for the first time recently and the team was so wonderful! ❤

They met with this cutie, Chunk, who has had a rough couple of months after an accidental Ibuprofen ingestion. He was presenting symptoms of vomiting, weight loss and an elevated white blood count, so Dr. Lock performed an abdominal ultrasound to investigate further. He did great for his ultrasound and we hope he starts feeling better soon! 🐾

🚨 NEW PARTNER ALERT! 🚨

Dr. Lock and Chelsea were invited into Hope Animal Clinic recently and it was a great reunion for Dr. Lock, since she used to work there! The team is fantastic.

They met with sweet Scout, who hasn’t been feeling well lately. An abdominal ultrasound was performed to investigate further, and we were happy to share the happy news that everything looked great on her scan. We did discover that she has an autoimmune disease, and we hope she will be feeling better with treatment.

Dr. Lock and Chelsea visited Calera Animal Hospital for the first time recently to check on two brothers AJ and Zach. The entire team was wonderful!

Dr. Lock performed a thoracic ultrasound on AJ, who has chronic pulmonary disease and checked on Zach who has chronic pancreatitis.

Dr. Katie Lock, a Board-Certified Veterinary Internist, and Chelsea, a Licensed Veterinary Technician, were invited into Caldwell Mill Animal Clinic for the first time recently and the team was wonderful! Check out their Christmas sign!

They came in to see Bobby Bear Bryant, who has a history of chronic diarrhea, so Dr. Lock performed an abdominal ultrasound to further investigate.

Who can resist these cute puppy faces?! 🐶

Dr. Lock and Chelsea stopped by Vulcan Park Animal Care to spread some holiday cheer and were greeted by the sweetest puppies! These babies were dropped off at a nearby park, and are now waiting for their forever homes.

Thanks for letting us snuggle up with these puppies for as long as we did! 😍

🚨 NEW PARTNER ALERT! 🚨

Dr. Katie Lock, a Board-Certified Veterinary Internist, and Chelsea, a Licensed Veterinary Technician, were invited into the Animal Hospital of the Hills for the first time recently! While we always love capturing new partner clinics, this was an unforgettable experience because Dr. Lock was requested to help with not one but two emergency foreign body removals!

🏥VetMed Fact: While anesthesia is still required, endoscopy allows for a minimally invasive option to retrieve items that shouldn't have been ingested. It avoids more serious complications that can be encountered with surgery, and the recovery is minimal (patients are typically back to normal within a few hours)!

Maple had been vomiting over the past few days, so we went in with our endoscopy equipment and found the problem — a few leather rings wrapped in fabric! Bebe was having diarrhea and gravel was showing on her radiographs. We went ahead and were able to remove the rocks and also a piece of fabric.

Dr. Lock and Chelsea met Moe Doe at McAdory Vet and performed an abdominal ultrasound. Recent lab work revealed elevated kidney values, and Moe Doe has been experiencing a poor appetite.

The findings of his ultrasound revealed Moe Due suffers from congenital kidney disease; meaning he was born with abnormal kidneys. While we were hoping to provide better news to his family, we do hope having this information will help manage his condition. We hope this adorably cuddly boy feels better soon, and appreciate having the opportunity to participate in his care! 🐶💜🐾

Dr. Lock and Chelsea had the pleasure of visiting the Animal Clinic of the Hills during their ribbon cutting ceremony! They also received a tour of the beautiful, brand new facility, and cannot wait to partner with this wonderful team in the very near future!

Team Birmingham met Zahn at McAdory Veterinary Clinic. Zahn has been experiencing some gastrointestinal upset, so an abdominal ultrasound was performed to further investigate. The ultrasound revealed changes consistent with pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas), and we are happy to report with the treatment provided by Dr. Norris, Zahn is already feeling better.

Dr. Lock and Chelsea were invited into Standifer’s Animal Clinic for the first time recently and the team was so welcoming! Thank you for giving Dr. Lock the opportunity to participate in the care of your patients! We look forward to collaborating again in the near future!

In the photos, you'll notice Michael was anesthetized for a rhinoscopy procedure. A rhinoscopy is a minimally invasive procedure our Internists utilize to evaluate the upper respiratory tract (nose and pharynx) for signs of inflammation, infection, foreign material or even masses. A scope, with a camera attached, is passed through the nares (or nostrils) and into the nose. We also use a scope to look up behind the soft palate, into the back of the nose. If abnormalities are noted, samples can be obtained. We are happy to report Michael did great with the procedure and we hope to have him feeling better soon!

A huge shoutout to Ashley, one of the technicians at Standifer’s Animal Clinic who assisted with the procedure! 💜🎉🙌

Fear Free Pets is the concept of practicing veterinary medicine while reducing the feelings of stress and anxiety our patients experience. This results in a better experience for all involved, not just the pets but the pet owners and veterinary teams as well. Creating these positive interactions is a goal for MOVES and we encourage all team members to become Fear Free certified.
