We know it’s been a while but we haven’t forgotten about you! We have some farm updates to share:

🍅We had planned to be back at the Brentwood Farmers market by now but the recent fruit fly quarantine has thrown a wrench in our plans.

🥬We are currently shifting our efforts to our fall and winter crops including lettuce mix, carrots, radishes, turnips, broccoli, cauliflower, kale, bok choi and more!

💬We have implemented text message marketing allowing Kite Hawk Farms updates to be sent directly to your phone. By signing up you will receive updates for where and when we will be selling our seasonal produce, including our FAMOUS lettuce mix!

We are excited for the change of seasons and can’t wait to see all our favorite people again soon.

🌽Our 100% spray free, bi-colored corn was finally ready to harvest today and be shared with our community!

🌽Just like any other item we offer, our corn is exceptionally fresh and handled with extra special care.

🌽FUN FACT: the natural sugars in corn begins to convert to starch immediately after harvesting. Farmer Sean harvested these beauties this morning and immediately transferred them to our 33 degree refrigerator to cool down. Immediate cooling of corn also aids in slowing the conversion process.

🌽We are confident the extra effort we put into our harvesting process will make these ears of corn just as good as if you harvested them from your own backyard.

We are back at the Brentwood Farmers’ Market tomorrow with our delicious shish*to peppers! Find our favorite recipe below and share yours in the comments.

Kite Hawk Farms Blistered Shish*to Peppers

12 oz. Kite Hawk Farms Shish*to Peppers
2 T. Olive Oil
1 squeeze of Lemon Juice
Flaky Sea Salt to Taste

Heat pan until smoking hot. Mix shish*tos in bowl with olive oil until coated then add to hot pan. Do not stir for 6-8 minutes to blistered on one side. Stir for an additional 3 minutes and remove from heat. Add squeeze of lemon juice and salt to taste. Serve with your favorite dip. We like aioli, sriracha mayo, or hummus. Enjoy!

FARM UPDATES:

Tomorrow will be the last day we will have our “famous” lettuce mix this season. With the warm weather our lettuce goes to flower and becomes bitter. 🥬

The good news is our tomatoes and peppers are in the ground so delicious cherry tomatoes and shish*to peppers are coming soon. 🎉

We will also have snap peas, carrots, lettuce mix, eggs, and broccoli. 🫛🥕🥬🥚🥦

Don’t forget to grow with us!

These are the most delicious carrots I have ever had in my life. I am constantly requesting my husband, Farmer Sean, to hurry up and get our carrots growing because I won’t eat store bought carrots anymore! These carrots are so sweet they taste like candy. I’m so excited to share them with you all tomorrow from 9AM - 1PM. Roast them with some for a fantastic local side dish that is sure to impress.
