Hello Friends of the Animals -
Willow Run is reaching out to residents of Jefferson County and beyond asking for donations of much needed items and supplies due to situations as of late.
For the past several weeks, our noses have been to the grindstone handling multiple humane issues that, regretfully, have progressed into serious humane cases through both state police and borough police. We are thankful throughout for the State Troopers and Borough Police Officers for enforcing humane law to help the animals. All situations are located in Jefferson County with the exception of one stretching into Armstrong County. This being noted, we have barely had time to look up. Finally, the dust is settling as the new arrivals are now normal routines. As double digit numbers of animals from different perpetrators have come under the Willow Run wing, multiple off-premise volunteers have had to step up to help with physical care and housing of animals.
An additional situation to the above involves a large number of rabbits dropped off in the Reynoldsville area. This specific situation is not a humane case at this point in time since an owner is not known. We are asking if anyone has information about a person who once had a multitude of rabbits who now all of a sudden have no rabbits....please let us know through private message. We are thankful to Good Samaritan "J" in Reynoldsville who is helping the rabbits find their way to Willow Run. The trapping and transporting is time consuming and daunting for "J" who is handling it single handedly. The rabbits are emaciated, beat up, torn and ripped as well as one surely being visually impaired. Of course, veterinarian care is scheduled. Be assured, all are comfortable, warm, fed and cared for.
Yet another Good Samaritan brought to our attention about a colony of kittens and cats - 16 in total - pretty much starving, meant to be "mousers" in a barn that nothing should live in other than the owner himself - animals being injured by highway traffic....absolutely no care or concern being given to these kittens and cats. This situation hangs in the balance regarding humane infractions. The sterilizing of this colony along with other necessary care totaled just over $2,000 - absolutely no contribution of any kind from the neglectful owner. Willow Run satisfied this cost. All kittens and cats are at Willow Run, safe, fed and treated with dignity and respect. All except one is available for adoption. If someone can volunteer to come to take pictures of the cats and kittens so they can be viewed for adoption, please private message your interest. Thank you to the Animal Hospital of Punxsutawney for the stellar care of this colony of kittens and cats.
The total number of animals received at Willow Run exceeds 51. This number includes goats, dogs, cats, chickens, roosters, horses of all sizes and rabbits. Imagine this. Pitiful.
We need donations of the following:
Horse hay - square bales preferred, round bales accepted. We must politely request no dusty or old hay, please.

Lastly, a run-in shelter is needed at an off-premise location. It costs approximately $900. If you would like to donate specifically for this much needed structure, please specify same with your donation.
Due to the sensitivity of the pending cases, we cannot upload pictures of the animals.

With Best Regards,
