Rats are popular family pets. They are extremely intelligent, inquisitive, interactive, and social. They can be easily trained to come when called and readily learn to perform tricks on command. If they are well socialized from a young age and treated gently, they are easy to handle, affectionate, and rarely bite unless provoked. Rats generally make good family pets but should never be left unsupervised with small children. 🐭

It’s an unfortunate fact that nearly 80% of dogs and 70% of cats have periodontal disease by the age of 3. Many pets don’t display signs of problems even though they are in pain, so getting your pet used to having their teeth brushed is good for their health and wellness.

While it’s best to teach your pet to accept toothbrushing while they are still young, adult dogs and cats can be trained. It may take a little longer, but it’s worth the effort. Associating rewards with the sessions, before, during and after, can help keep dental care a positive event.

In honor of Día de los Mu***os (Day of the Dead), we’re celebrating the Mexican Xoloitzcuintli (Xolo), one of the most ancient dog breeds. Known as “the healers,” Xolos are believed to ward off and cure ailments.

Día de los Mu***os is a two-day celebration in early November to honor loved ones who have passed away. Families in Mexico commemorate their deceased pets before the Día de los Mu***os.
