22 years ago, I came to Burnsville Animal Clinic to do an internship, where I felt welcomed in with open arms. I have come to think of this clinic as my home. It brings me great pride to say that I work here.

This clinic has molded me into the person I am today. I credit it for my continued passion for helping and serving pets and their care givers.
I have cried alongside many of you as you said goodbye to your beloved family member and rejoiced when you brought a new pet into your lives again. Many of you I have come to consider my friends and I will never forget you!

It is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye. My family is off on a new adventure. I am saddened to leave but excited for what is to come.
My last day at BAC will be June 14th.
I want to thank everyone, from clients to past and present employees, for all the wonderful years here. I will miss you all!

This week is National Vet Tech Week. Have you ever wondered what your Vet Tech/Vet Assistants do for you and your furry family members?

At BAC, our staff are all cross trained in different areas to better serve you. Our daily tasks involve scheduling appointments, answering client calls with questions regarding their pets, obtaining medical history for exams so we can help the doctore better treat and diagnose your pets for what they need. Filling medication prescriptions. We perform blood draws, run lab tests- including blood, urine, and stools. We care for your pet while they are undergoing medical procedures. Place IV catheters, assist with anesthesia during surgery, clean and xray teeth. Take radiographs.
We are also there for you at the most difficult of times. Helping you to understand a diagnosis your pet just received and helping to make them comfortable and continue to get the care they need. Holding your hand or crying beside you during end of life.
We do it all. And we do it all with love and compassion, loving them as if they were our own. Sometimes that means working through lunch to make sure their procedure gets completed or staying later at the end of their shift so we can work your pet into an already booked schedule.

We have a pretty PAWSOME team here at BAC. Giving their all, every day, for you and your pets. THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR EXCELLENT WORK AND DEDICATION

If you have a special Vet Tech or Vet Assistant in your life, be sure to say Thank You and let them know how much they mean to you and your pets, not just this week, but every day!

One misconception of our job is that we get to play with puppies and kitties each day..... well, some days WE REALLY DO! While we love those cute puppy and kitty faces and all that extra roly poly skin, these little guys are sometimes the most challenging to work with, especially if they need special treatments, because they are so wiggly and don't understand yet to sit still. They require a little extra patience and tricks up our sleeves- like food stuffed kongs, lick mats and lickable treats. We use these treats to positively reward our little ones for allowing us to look in their ears, mouths, and getting shots. Our goal is for them to focus so much on the yummy treat in front of them that they don't even notice that sting of the shot they just got. We will continue to use this trick with adult patients as well. WellHaven Pet Health

Vet Tech Week continues, and no week is complete without a Bath and Cut! Afton is our Master Groomer. She does an amazing job!! Dogs love coming in for their haircuts with her and they all leave looking adorable and smelling fantastic, with an extra skip in their wag. Not only does she do an awesome job grooming, she also helps us out in reception whenever possible. She is always willing to step in and help us schedule appointments and check patients in for their exams. We have been so blessed to have her. **unfortunately, Afton is not currently taking new grooming clients**
