Just a little update on our sweet Indie! We are so grateful for Sit Means Sit Atlanta for taking Indie and teaching her some much needed manners. She is the absolute sweetest girl, she just needed a little confidence. She has been adopted and we are so happy for her. Also, looks like she decided maybe having other doggy friends wasn't so bad 🥰

Parvo has been a large problem in our area this season, with all of the summer puppies being born and all of the rain spreading it around. Because of this, parvo has made its way into the shelter. In an effort to contain this deadly disease, the shelter will be temporarily shutting off intakes and adoptions of all animals at this time. This will give the staff the ability to thoroughly clean the infected areas and to continue caring for the animals in house to ensure their safety.
We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause, but this is a very serious issue that cannot be taken lightly. Our tentative reopen date is September 3rd, 2024, pending no further positive cases in house. If you are unable to care for an animal during our quarantine time, please do not pick it up and/or move it to a new location. If you see an animal but are unable to care for it while you search for an owner/wait for us to reopen, you can report the animal to both the shelter and Animal Control (770-834-8150). This way, record can be made of the animal’s most recent location if an owner is actively looking for them. If you pick up an animal and are willing/able to hold it until our quarantine has lifted, you may report the animal as found to the shelter for a courtesy post to be made in efforts to find the owners. We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation during this time. Our main goal is to keep our animals safe and healthy during this time.
We would also like to take a moment to encourage everyone to have their dogs vaccinated as soon as possible. This is not just an issue for the shelter, but also for the community.

We are in desperate need of Cat Litter! With the large amounts of cats/kittens we have due to the warm weather we are struggling to keep up with the demand of cat litter we are needing. If you are able to donate to use please consider some of these options we love to use for our fur babies! You can find them at Walmart, Target, and Tractor Supply. We have more cats looking for work! If you have a barn or shop that is in need of some critter control then these would be the cats for you! Everyday there are cats coming into the shelter, and sometimes these cats are not ideal for adoptions. Instead of being indoor lap cats, these would prefer to be outdoors and working for their keep. All of these cats will come spayed/neutered, rabies vaccinated, and ear-tipped. There is no adoption fee for these cats; all they wish to receive as payment for their services is some food, water, and shelter to be provided. Otherwise, they are self-sufficient and content with being your diligent little helper!

Stop by Local Ties tomorrow to see some of our amazing adoptable dogs!!

THIS SATURDAY!!! Dogs, sunshine, and great local beer?!?! What could be better? Join us at Local Ties this Saturday, August 10 at 1pm to love on some adoptable pups from Carroll County Animal Shelter and help spread their cuteness on social media! The first 20 people to post a selfie tagging both Local Ties and Fur Babies Cat Cafe will receive a FREE BEER (limit 1 free beer per person, but you can post as many selfies with the pups as you’d like!). Fur Babies will be CLOSED from 12pm-1pm on Saturday to prep for the event, but we are still open 10-6 overall as usual.

General Note: ALL adoptable animals from Carroll County Animal Shelter are microchipped, spayed/neutered, and fully vetted to their age.

***ATTENTION:***
We have had a lot of interest in our spay & neuter event, which makes us very excited! We love seeing everyone come together to help the pets in our community. However, we have noticed an influx of sign ups for female cats but almost no sign ups for male cats. We wanted to remind everyone of the importance of getting your male cat neutered. Sometimes people forget that just because their male cat can't give birth to kittens, it doesn't mean that he doesn't need to be neutered. Not only does this help with overpopulation, but it also helps with their health and temperament too! So, if you or someone you know has an unaltered male cat living in Carroll County, please direct them to our event! Help us, help them, help you!
