From her foster: Puppy #1016, Frappuccino, definitely wins an award for one of the cutest puppies ever! Just look at her! That floofy brown fur with these white markings and then add in those sparkling eyes and she is one pretty dog! She is going to be a big girl! She has a super calm and chill personality but she also is very shy and unsure of her world right now! She just arrived in Colorado a few days ago so there is a lot to absorb and figure out! You will need to get comfy at her own pace and she will! She is figuring loving pets are not so scary and will offer licks now that she is warming up! She is deciding that she really DOES like those pets and is starting come around for more cuddles and love!
Frappuccino really is bonded to her sisters and they snuggle and play together amazingly well in her foster home! She loves to play with toys with them and will give a bark or two during friendly play! She enjoys outside and is figuring it all out including steps and what these fall leaves are all about! She has been separated from the big dogs so she isn't stressed out because they seem scary to her. Although she will want to offer a lick or two if they get close enough! She is a great sleeper and loves the dog bed! She is quiet at night and most of the time! She is a great eater and chows down all her food twice a day! She started on puppy pads but is not totally consistent yet! She is just starting with potty training!
Frappuccino will make your heart smile and you will fall hard for this one! She has the best demeanor but that personality has yet to come out! She will need patience and love as grows her confidence! She will melt your heart and literally in your arms too! She is ready to find her family that will show her what human love is all about!

How long is it okay to leave your pet in the car during the summer months? The answer is zero minutes. Yep, that’s right. Even one minute is 60 seconds too long!

There was a dog left in this car for over 20 minutes and the internal temperature was 113 degrees. Guess how hot it was outside that day? Only 84 degrees!

Officers had to break a window to get the dog out of the heat, and the owner was issued a summons for animal neglect. They understood and even thanked our Community Service Officers for this teaching moment. Remember, running into the store for “just a minute” can be fatal for a dog left in the car.

SHELBY CELEBRATES TINY GRADUATES

Late May and early June is graduation season, and Shelby The Therapup and her human partner, Officer Gillian, had the pleasure of cheering on these students at the Open Door Learning Center (ODLC). Shelby and Officer Gillian make regular visits to the ODLC and this graduation celebration provided them another opportunity to interact with these little residents on a positive level, as well as meet their extended families who came together to mark this huge accomplishment.

Wally is about 2 ½ years old, do you thin he is a Belgian Malinois mix?
You can meet him today!
We think he is a cousin to Marmaduke or Scooby Doo.
Wally is a great dog, loves people, loves to play. He walks nicely on a leash and knows ‘sit’ and ‘come’. He is a quick learner, so he’s looking forward to learning more with you!
He has played successfully with other dogs his size. Should monitor him with the little ones. We don’t recommend he lives with any cats, he’s TOO interested in them.
He wants to spend is best years with you, come meet Wally!

UPDATE: ADOPTED!

Meet Zeus!

*DISCLAIMER: WE ARE GOING TO BE EXTREMELY SELECTIVE ABOUT WHERE ZEUS CALLS HOME!*

Zeus is a handsome as can be 1 year old Belgian Malinois/German Shepherd mix who is looking for an experienced and active owner to take him home! Zeus came to us when his previous family could no longer give him the life he needed. He was purchased as a puppy by a family who wasn't quite prepared for what a handful this breed can be! Belgian Malinois are extremely high energy working dogs who need a "job" to do in order to provide them with enough physical and mental stimulation to thrive; because of this, we are going to be very selective about where Zeus ends up for his forever home!

Zeus is a BIG boy, even for a Mal, at just under 80 pounds. Zeus has lots and lots of energy and will need a home where he can get daily exercise and stimulation for him to be happy. Zeus will also need an owner who is experienced in working on positive training with dogs. Zeus is a super smart pup, but he was never taught proper boundaries in his early life so he likes to jump up and can be pretty mouthy when he gets overly excited. Zeus will need gentle yet firm guidance and some patience to show him how to behave like a good boy!

Zeus has done very well in introductions with other dogs at the shelter, and we are still working on socializing with other pups but are very pleased with how he acts with his canine friends, That said, he seems to prefer the company of humans. At this time we think Zeus would do best in a home without young children or cats. Zeus is a super playful boy and absolutely loves his toys. He is very smart and eager to please. We think in the right environment with the right experienced and patient owner, Zeus will thrive and be an amazing companion.

Zeus is already neutered, microchipped, and up to date on his vaccines. If you are an experienced working dog owner with an active lifestyle and are looking for a smart, energetic, and loyal boy who just needs a little bit of extra attention and love, give us a call!
