My current love is French Bulldogs. I have three of them. They are my only animals. I am not a kennel. I do not sell my retired dogs. I only have a litter of puppies every once in a while. I am only breeding the Frenchies that I have now because I believe they are a wonderful representation of the breed and are in excellent health. Also, I just love having puppies. Frenchies can be one of the most
high maintenance breeds you can get, if you get one that is in poor health. That’s why it is very important that when buying a Frenchie that you do your research. These are high dollar dogs and there are a lot of disreputable people that will take advantage of that just to make a quick buck. Frenchies have a long list of health problems associated with their breed. Most of them can be avoided by only breeding dogs without these health problems. The others can be simply handled with the right diet, vaccine schedule, and care. The key is to finding a breeder that holds all of these standards above profits. I am such a breeder. Please feel free to ask me anything even if I don’t have a litter on the ground I will help you understand what to look for when you are looking for a puppy. As I said I have three Frenchies, but only two of them are intact. I had to spay one of my females because she developed severe allergies. I thought that I had done all of my research into the breeder that I got her from, but even when you know everything to look for you can still miss things. Now it is very clear that this breeder was breeding dogs that had known allergy problems. They now state on their website that allergies in Frenchies are normal and to be expected, but that there are medicines that you can put them on to control it. This is not true! A healthy Frenchie should not have more than a mild food sensitivity that can be easily remedied by the correct diet. Any Frenchie that has allergies should not be bred and the medicines that most vets will put an allergy dog on are steroids which can cause a whole different set of problems. This is why I spayed my female. I cannot allow her to have puppies that could potentially have the same problems as she does. I will not sell her or give her away just because she cannot have puppies. Frenchies do have sensitive little systems. It is very important that you put them on a high end diet, raw is the best. There are some holistic dry foods that are good also. Frenchies don’t do so great with vaccines either if you follow the old school vaccination schedule. There are a lot of vets that will still push their clients to give vaccinations every year. Vets that are up to date on the latest vaccination protocols agree that shots are not needed every year for your pet to be safe. Frenchies handle their shots much better when they are given their vaccinations according to the updated schedule. My dogs do not get shots yearly. In its place my vet runs a blood test called a titer that tests for the level of antibodies that they have for each disease. If their antibodies are high there is no reason they need another shot. If they are low then we give a booster. Also, each shot is given separately of each other and the dose should be scaled for their weight. Many vets give “all in one” shots. The doses for these shots are the same for a Tea Cup Poodle as they are for a Great Dane. Your dog doesn’t need most of these and some can even be harmful such, as the Lepto vaccination which should never be given to a Frenchie! If you want to know more about the over vaccination of pets please let me know and I will send you some additional information. Given that I only have two breeding dogs my litters will be limited. If you would like to get on a waiting list please let me know. If you would like to ask me a question about anything I’m happy to help.
