We took advantage of a day without rain last week and had some friends with photography skills take some pictures for us. HD Villenova had a strong Privilege c**t this year. HD Independence "Indy" (Canon x HD Mexico) ! 🇺🇸

Indy is a 3 year old gelding whose sweet, gentle, and goofy personality makes him so much fun to be around. His favorite things include savory snacks, greeting visitors, a good groom, and spending time playing with his friends in the pasture. He has stepped up this year to set an example for the other project horses, showing his bravery in loading the trailer, helping opening gates, farm days for 5th grader demos, and assisting with preparing everyone for the show. In his journey as a project horse, he has learned so much and has also returned the favor by teaching students as well. A friend to all, including humans, horses and the cats, we are so grateful for Indy.

Indy, and all of us at the barn, wish you all a happy, safe 4th of July! 🇺🇸🎆

☀️June Horse of the Month☀️

Our June Horse of the Month is HD Venice! HD Venice “Tony” (Canon x HD Villenova) is a 2 year old gelding who’s larger than life! Tony is a smart and charismatic guy who loves to be the center of attention. In May he attended his first show at the Heart’s Delight Spring premiere, he proved his resilience after a rough start to the weekend by winning his class. Tony loves hanging out with friends (equine and human) and is always up for an adventure. Though he is young he can often seem older than his years. We are so proud of his accomplishments and beyond excited to watch him continue to grow. 💙

Something is in the air this foaling season! We had another big surprise this morning. Honoree “Ree” had her first foal last night out in the field (the same field Nova gave birth in not long ago!). A stunning c**t who’s cute as a button. Ree has taken to motherhood amazingly and we are so proud of her. This little guy is by Canon (Happy Father’s Day Canon). After knowing him only a few hours we can say he is quite the sweetheart. Name brainstorming is already underway!

We have decided on the name of our first foal of the season!

Drumroll please 🥁…

HD Pavilion “Leo” ! All of our horses are named after cities and towns in New York. For this c**t we wanted to include elements of both his sire, Privilege, and dam , HD Villenova, and Pavilion was perfect. Leo means “the lion-hearted” and the last four letters of Pavilion spell lion. Leo is a beautiful, smart, and lively foal and we love getting to know him more and more everyday!

Happy 3rd birthday to HD Independence "Indy" (Canon x HD Mexico)! 🎉

Indy's sweet personality not only makes him a joy to work with but also just to be around. He was celebrated today with a long groom, lots of love, a photoshoot, and some savory treats. Lots of hardwork in training has set him up to move onto his next big step of becoming a riding horse. We cannot wait to watch Indy as he moves towards this goal this year! Indy couldn’t be happier with the return of Elizabeth LaValley , former summer student and current year long intern, to keep working with him in his training!

Surprise!

This morning we met our first HD foal of the year! We thought that Nova was several days away from foaling but she had other plans. Born out in the field sometime last night this c**t gave us quite a shock when feeding breakfast! He was healthy and already had the whole life thing figured out. Nova did an amazing job and is in full mom mode. This little guy is by Privilege and out of HD Villenova, a first time cross (that already looks quite promising).

His name is in the works , we thought we had some more time to brainstorm! We are so grateful that this pair is happy and healthy and can’t wait to see him grow!

🇺🇸May horse of the month🇺🇸

Field of Honor (Privilege x UVM Loyalty) is a 10 year old stallion standing here at Miner. The phrase Field of Honor means the battlefield. It is often used to describe the sacrifice that took place in battle. As he is nicknamed “Field” , was bred and named by Chris and Janet Morris of Paradise Morgan. Field is a smart, beautiful, and humorous guy. He loves attention but knows his job and will get down to business whether is riding or breeding. Last year his first three offspring were born, three gorgeous fillies. He is a phenomenal representation of the Morgan breed!

As the sun sets on this Memorial Day weekend, we have so many grateful thoughts that don’t have adequate words yet. It was an amazing show, gorgeous weather, beautiful horses and happy exhibitors! The hard working team behind the scenes is what makes things run so well; from newly minted students to alumni near and far- thank you!

Happy birthday from across the miles! HD Harkness has a huge fan club and we're charter members here at Miner! There will be a big announcement coming soon, but it is a big hint to let you all know that you should mark your calendars for July 27th...

Having horses in our lives has made it possible for us to make friends from all over the world. Since Hark became a Breyer model horse we have met people from almost every state and dozens of countries. We have watched him put smiles on so many faces!!! What an amazing experience it has been! Today is Hark's 26th birthday. He has been a member of our family since he was 2 and we have loved every minute! Thank you for the fun and the experiences you have made possible for us Hark and thank you to everyone who is a Hark fan for making it so special for us!

There aren't many opportunities to ride in a dressage show on the NY side of the Champlain Valley, but the Heart's Delight Spring Premier Open Show is committed to hosting a dressage division. It's been called the best show to dip your toes into dressage if you haven't before, but it is also a nice local show with qualified judges (this year it is Bethany White) and very reasonable fees. Pre-entry is needed though for planning purposes! Thanks to Carol at Adirondack Tack for helping us with this part of the show.
