A lover of all things lappy that occasionally will have a well bred litter of pups. Can answer any q I've trained and raised dogs all my life.

Growing up my family raised three guide dogs and a search and rescue dog. Since then, I've seen and worked with these wonderful animals as therapy, emotional support, and medical dogs. Prior to the Finnish Lapphunds, I worked with Golden Retrievers, German Shepherds, Border Collie mixs, and Australian Shepherds. Up until this point I loved my dogs but they weren't a passion. In 2012 I saw my first

Lappy and fell in love with their big huge smiles and intelligent eyes. The next 3 years I researched the breed, made contact with a breeder, drove 9 hours to meet two very sweet lappies, and finally after being on a waiting list brought home my first girl. For me these are my best friends and perfect dogs. This breed is not one that you can leave out in your backyard all day. They thrive being with you and learning new things. Because they are intelligent they learn quickly but have a since of humor. It is important they have some form of exercise, but have an off switch and are ok cuddling with you on the couch. I raise my puppies believing it will be someones best friend. Thus when I breed I look at temperament, structure, and health. All have been tested and cleared for the following health issues. The tribbles have arrived. We had 8 little furry hitchhikers that popped out Sunday. Inari, the 7 girls babies, and 1 boy are doing great.

While the breeding program in North America for the Finnish Lapphund didn’t get started until 1980’s there were lappies here much earlier. The Sami first arrived in North America in the great migrations from 1850-1935. Reindeer herding families were hired by the United States government in 1894 and 1898 to teach reindeer husbandry to the Alaska Native Inupiaq and Yup’ik Peoples, who were facing starvation because of the systematic slaughtering of whales, walrus, and seals by the whaling industries in the Bering Sea and Chukchi Sea. These Sami not only contributed to the Native diet, clothing needs, and economy, but also enriched the cultural lifestyle of these people, which still has an impact today. With the Sami came their reindeer dogs.
