Special Care For Special Kitties

We could use your help! We have had a lot of special care visits and more coming up over the next couple weeks.

Curly - she had a UTI and we have to watch her and see if it reoccurs. She had a visit with a critical care specialist. She is ‘hooded’ and they may trap bacteria in there. This will need a special surgery if she has chronic UTIs . ( she is just shy of 1 yrs old)

Reign- he had a cardio recheck and labs done. With a continued thyroid care his heart muscles are actually looking better, which is an amazing thing! One of his vows is getting larger so that is something that we need to watch. Overall, she was very pleased with that. However, we are dealing with increased CKD. We will need to see an internal medicine specialist for him. He will need to look at what is going on and, decide what kind of therapy for his kidneys we need to be on as well as his thyroid levels. (He is 11 yrs old)

Cookie Monster- such a good Shy boy! He is going to see the cardiologist on June 10. We are also going to entertain a dental because he is grinding his teeth when he choose. (He is 5yrs old)

Dippin Dots- this young lady presented with some issues with her right eye. The people is dilated and her eye is not as clear. She is going to see the ophthalmologist on the 19th. She does have a significant heart murmur which we have been managing through primary care visits and echocardiogram. Hopefully it’s not a blood pressure issue. She may need to see a cardiologist in the future as well. She also recently had a dental cleaning. (She is 8 yrs old)

Dusky - he came to us with a tail injury. They cleaned and clipped and Given gave an antibiotic. He seemed to be a self mutilating it a few weeks later so we had x-rays done. He has a fractured tail. On Friday he will have his tail amputated. (He is 1yr old)

Bee Gee, Wasabi, and Edamame- these guys are FIV positive kitty cats that came from the streets. They have a four out of four periodontal disease. They will be going for dental cleanings and extractions, as well as additional vaccines this coming Friday.

Beans- This kitty cat went through a TNR clinic that doesn’t necessarily age the cats. We think she’s a bit older, but her record show age one. She’s been drinking a ton of water. Her mouth looks like she may need a dental as well. Not only that when she came in she had pyometra. We are lucky that we got her in time or she would have turned septic and passed away outside. She is going for bloodwork, exam and a potential dental on Friday.

Chumbawama- this sweet long-haired boy came from the streets. He is one of the most affectionate cats we have ever met! He went for a neuter and everything seemed well until he had an abscess that broke open on his groin. He went back and they cleaned it and gave him an antibiotic and told us to leave the cone on him for 10 days. Well that turned necrotic and they had to surgically repair, give another antibiotic and his cone needed to stay on a little bit longer. (He is 2yrs)

Not pictured: De La Soul (yeast infection in ears), Garfield (FeLV/pyothorax pneumonia)- aggressive antibiotics, x-rays, and multiple critical specialty visits and we could not save him, Multiple Kitten Litters with calicivirus, Aster- This boy went to have a massive neck wound treated multiple times. He was returned to field and it became worse. We trapped him again and had the wound surgically closed, and more….

It’s raining kittens! We are having a kitten shower on June 8, 2024 at our Pet Supplies Plus Streetsboro adoption center! You are definitely going to want to save the date and make the drive. We will have over 30 kitties waiting to meet you! As the day gets closer we will. Start sharing their profiles! If you’re not looking to adopt, please come out and see what else we have to offer! We will have a table where team members are talking about different ways to volunteer and make an impact, bake goods for purchase to help replenish our ER fund, and a donation drop off to help off set costs of caring for all these babies! Come out anytime between 1 PM and 4 PM. If you’re looking to Adopt, I would come at the beginning to make sure you can meet the most Kittens!
