🐾 Meet Walker: Starting Our Week with Gratitude 🧡

As we head into Thanksgiving week, we’re taking a moment to give thanks for the many ways animals touch our lives - including one very special dog named Walker. 💛

Walker is a Golden Retriever/Lab mix who serves as the Cleveland Clinic Main Campus Facility Dog for the Paws For Caregivers program. Alongside his handler, Walker spends his days supporting healthcare workers, offering comfort, companionship, and a much-needed moment of calm after difficult days.

From attending sessions after the loss of a patient or colleague to visiting up to 12 nursing units a day, Walker helps caregivers care for themselves - spreading warmth, hope, and healing wherever he goes. 🐶✨

A little more about Walker:
🐕 Breed: Golden Retriever/Lab Mix
🎂 Birthday: May 8, 2023
🏡 Birthplace: Atlanta, GA
🧸 Favorite Toy: Orange Duck
❄️ Favorite Activity: Hopping in the snow

This season, we’re thankful for Walker and all the pets who make the world a better place - one paw at a time. 🧡

What are you giving thanks for this year? Share with us in the comments below!

🐾 Furbaby Friday Spotlight: Toby! 🐾

Say hello to Toby, a handsome orange kitty who came in because his ears were feeling extra itchy. 🧡🐱

After taking a closer look, his ear cytology showed some bacteria and yeast, so Toby got a thorough ear cleaning and headed home with medication to help clear everything up. He was such a good boy for his visit!

Feel better soon, Toby — and thanks for being such a sweet patient! 💛

🥾🌲 Happy National Take a Hike Day! 🌲🥾

There’s no better adventure buddy than your four-legged friend! Today is the perfect excuse to hit the trails, breathe in the fresh air, and explore nature together. 🐾

Before you head out:
✅ Check that pets are allowed on the trail
💧 Pack water for both of you
🦟 Protect your pet with flea, tick, and heartworm prevention
🦴 Bring a few treats and waste bags
👣 Keep your pet on a leash for safety

Whether it’s a walk through your neighborhood park or a scenic forest trail, your pet will love spending time outdoors with you. ❤️

🎗️ November is National Pet Cancer Awareness Month 🎗️

Cancer doesn’t just affect people—it’s one of the leading causes of illness in our pets, too. The good news is that early detection can make a big difference. Regular wellness exams and staying alert to changes in your pet’s behavior or body are key to catching problems early.

🐾 Common warning signs include:
• Lumps or bumps that grow or change
• Unexplained weight loss or decreased appetite
• Lethargy or loss of energy
• Difficulty eating, breathing, or urinating
• Persistent lameness or swelling

If you notice any of these signs, don’t wait—schedule an exam with your veterinarian.

Together, we can raise awareness, support pets battling cancer, and remind every pet parent how important regular checkups are. 💜

💛 Happy World Kindness Day! 💛

Kindness comes in many forms — a gentle touch, a loving look, or a simple act that brightens someone’s day. Our pets remind us of this every single day through their unconditional love, loyalty, and affection. 🐾💞

Just like this sweet cat showing love to their tiny friend, let’s take a page from our pets’ playbook and spread a little extra kindness today — to people, pets, and ourselves. 🌎🐱🐶

Because the world is always better with a little more love and kindness in it. 💛

❤️Honoring Our Veterans💙

Today, we pause to honor and thank all who have served — the brave men and women who have dedicated their lives to protecting our freedom. Your courage, sacrifice, and commitment inspire us every day. 💙

We also pay tribute to the incredible military and working dogs who have stood faithfully beside their handlers — serving in the field, saving lives, and providing comfort to those who serve our country. 🐾🐕

From all of us at West Park Animal Hospital, thank you to every veteran, two- and four-legged alike, for your service and devotion. ❤️🤍💙

💙 November is Diabetes Awareness Month! 💙

Just like people, dogs and cats can develop diabetes — and early detection makes all the difference in helping them live long, healthy, happy lives.

🐾 Signs of diabetes in pets may include:
• Excessive water drinking and increased urination
• Weight loss despite an increased appetite
• Decreased appetite
• Cloudy eyes (especially in dogs)
• Chronic or recurring infections (including skin infections and urinary infections)

If you notice any of these symptoms in your pet, it’s important to talk with your veterinarian. With the right care, diet, and monitoring, pets with diabetes can thrive! 💪🐶🐱

At West Park Animal Hospital, our team is here to help guide you through diagnosis, treatment, and management every step of the way.

💙 Celebrate Diabetes Awareness Month by keeping a close eye on your pet’s health and scheduling regular wellness exams — because prevention and early care are key!
