🚨 February 14th is Pet Theft Awareness Day! 🚨

Losing a pet is every pet parent’s worst nightmare, but did you know that thousands of pets are stolen each year? Protect your furry friend with these important tips:

🔒 Microchip & ID Tags – Ensure your pet has up-to-date identification to increase the chances of being reunited. Microchips are a permanent form of identification that cannot be removed like a collar.
🏡 Secure Your Home & Yard – Never leave pets unattended in the yard or outside stores.
🚶‍♂️ Supervise Walks – Keep dogs on a leash and be aware of your surroundings.
📸 Keep Recent Photos – Have clear pictures of your pet in case you need to share them quickly.
🙅‍♂️ Be Cautious with Strangers – Don’t share too much information about your pet’s routine online.

If your pet goes missing, act fast! Contact local shelters, post on social media, and notify your microchip company. Stay vigilant and help spread awareness to keep our beloved pets safe.

🐾 We Were Featured in the News! 🐾

West Park Animal Hospital was recently featured in a News 5 Cleveland story about the importance of re-registering your pet’s microchip if they have a Save This Life chip after the major company shutdown. Microchips are a crucial tool in reuniting lost pets with their families, so making sure your pet’s information is up to date is more important than ever!

Luckily, if your pet received a microchip from us, we use HomeAgain microchips, and you do NOT have to worry about re-registering! However, we always recommend checking that your phone number and other contact details are current.

🏈🐾 Super Bowl Sunday is here! 🐾🏈

Whether you're cheering for your favorite team or just in it for the snacks, don’t forget to keep your furry friends safe during the big game! Here are some Game Day Pet Safety Tips:

🍗 Watch the snacks! Many game-day treats, like chicken wings, guacamole, and chips, can be dangerous for pets. Keep human food out of paw’s reach!

🍻 No alcohol for pets! Even small amounts can be toxic, so make sure drinks stay on high tables.

🎇 Loud noises? No problem! If your pet gets anxious with all the cheering, set up a quiet space where they can relax.

🏈 Include them in the fun! Give your pet their own Super Bowl treat or toy so they can enjoy the game with you!

📸 Share your pet’s game day spirit! Post a pic of your pet repping their team in the comments below—we’d love to see! 🐶🐱🏆

📣 This February, in honor of Black History Month, we’re celebrating the accomplishments of Dr. George Washington Carver, a pioneer in science, agriculture, and animal welfare. 🐾🌱

While best known for his groundbreaking work with peanuts, Dr. Carver was also a passionate advocate for sustainable farming and humane treatment of animals. He believed in caring for all living beings and emphasized compassion in how we treat animals and the environment. His dedication to education and innovation helped shape practices that benefit both humans and animals to this day.

We’re inspired by leaders like Dr. Carver, who remind us of the power of kindness, ingenuity, and advocacy in creating a better world. 🌟

🐾 Happy Groundhog Day, Pet Parents! 🐾

Will we see six more weeks of winter or an early spring? No matter what the groundhog predicts, your pets will still need love and care through every season! ❄️🌸

Here are some tips for keeping your furry friends happy this winter:
✨ Bundle up! Short-haired pets may need a coat or sweater for chilly walks.
✨ Watch those paws! Salt and ice can be tough on paw pads, so clean them after outdoor adventures.
✨ Stay active indoors! Puzzle toys and indoor games can help beat cabin fever.

Spring on the horizon? While flea, tick, and heartworm risks increase in the spring, pets should stay on preventatives year-round. Pests can still be active in cooler temperatures, so let’s keep your pets protected no matter the season! 🐕🐈

What’s your pet’s prediction for today—more snow or early sunshine? Let us know in the comments with a picture of your furry forecaster! 🌟
