Happy 23rd anniversary to my lovely wife today.

I like TBT. Found this in a box of old magazines. From 96, won the open class and the champions that day. ARHA little pack hunts were big in Missouri in that era. Open class averaged from 30-50 dogs and champions 5-10.

Most people today have not had the privilege to experience the thrill of listening to a big pack of foxhounds in hot pursuit.And sadly most of our population doesn’t respect this tradition.

I’ve got out of a certain breed, style, or type for game pursued, several times, but I’ve never got completely out. And I don’t think I ever can, lol. Nor do I really want to. I’ll always be a foxhunter at heart. But at the end of the day, if I can hunt behind a dog I’ll be happy with that.

Della on all time catcher/fielder duty. This memory popped up today from 2 years ago. We strive to have a good bond built up with all our curs by the time they turn 6 months old.

History local to me. The Missouri Ozark Section Leopard Cur Hunt. This cover picture was taken just a couple miles north of my house. From what I am told, most of these leopard curs were the type of tree dog that we strive for in our dogs today. I guess I was born too late to get to experience these. Before there was a blow up with hard feelings and the authenticity of the breed falling apart soon there after.

TBT pic of another top notch beagle from the past. Tootsie was an honest clean track driver. She was a LPCH. Just another dog that makes it towards the top of my all time hound list and a pic to keep for digital memory land.

Nashville has been busy this week. We are excited to get some pups off him on the ground. This female has a lot of old Missouri blood in her pedigree. Nash has another dual registered female coming to pay him a visit later this week as well. Send us a message if you have interest. I’m not sure how many Garry already has spoken for.

Hunted Nashville and Slim tonight. Got this short video of Nash running the first track of the night before my phone storage got full. He ran it 300 yards semi open on track and located and treed. With 3 c**n up. The next track he ran 100 yards, located, and treed. I tied him up and left the pup loose. Shot the c**n out and it ran. The pup after it. Got Nash unsnapped, but the c**n made it to the creek. Nash located it, but it took him about 15 minutes of swimming circles in water deeper than he could touch before he got c**n and brought him to the bank. We called it a night after that workout.

Hunted the females tonight. Indie treed a couple grinners and Della caught one on the ground.😒 They finally treed a lay up boar c**n to finish the night off. The last video is of the shad that were everywhere in the coves this evening.

Sharing some local hound history, I was handed down. A letter from Henry County, MO Foxhunters to the State of Missouri in 1925. They recorded killing 149 wolves, 117 coyotes, 44 bobcats, 24 fox, in 16 months time. Blows my mind to think there were that many wolves here just 100 years ago!!!

Did you know that hound hunting is really the only form of non-consumptive hunting, and the only thing close would be the catching and releasing of a fish. The ultimate goal of using hounds is not to harvest every animal treed, but the enjoyment to train and listen to the dogs during a race doing what they were bred to do. Building a bond with these hounds is like no other bond in this world (guaranteed)!! I say with certainty that they are family and are loved more than you could ever fathom!

Hot hot hot. No fancy video for last nights hunt. It was too thick and frankly the dogs treed good enough for me to get to the tree, but due to the heat it didn’t sound or look very flashy,LOL. Nashville did show me a coon, nevertheless.

Maybe this clip will help cool you down on this hot day. So ready for this again, just around the corner.

Been a few weeks since we have been out. Nashville put a couple up.

This here is one good reason why we obedience train our dogs. Della had two puncture wounds on her ear, which most wounds on the head bleed like crazy. I don’t currently have any blood stop and I was home alone. If she wasn’t trained to stay and wait calmly, I don’t think I would have been able to get it stopped. I didn’t get any before footage, but the video starts about 20 minutes in of holding pressure on the puncture. I was able to get it stopped and get some liquid bandage on it. 👍

Rain kept us from going last night, so we got up and went before daylight this morning. Hunted Della and Slim for well over an hour before Della hit a track. She ran it in about 500 yards and located in a beaver hole in the side of the creek. The water was over waist deep in front of the hole so, I waited for about an hour before she came out to me. I wish Garmin made track and train collars that would last over a year or two. It would have been nice to tone her out of there. #tebocreekmtncurs

Reminiscing of good times in the fall again

This was from last spring. Our young Kemmer’s had only been coonhunted up to that point, but on that day they discovered they like to tree squirrels too.
