🦃 Thanksgiving Pet Food Safety Tips! 🦃

As we gather to celebrate Thanksgiving, let’s not forget our furry friends who’d love a taste of the holiday cheer! Here’s a quick guide to safe Thanksgiving treats for your dog:

🍗 Turkey (plain, no skin, bones, or seasoning) - A few pieces of fully cooked turkey are a tasty, protein-packed treat! 🐶

🥕 Veggies like carrots, green beans, and sweet potatoes (plain & unseasoned) - These make a great crunch and are loaded with healthy nutrients! 🌽🥕

🍠 Sweet Potatoes - A bite or two of plain, cooked sweet potato is paw-fect. Avoid any marshmallows or spices!

🍏 Apples (remove seeds and core) - These make a sweet treat with lots of fiber!

🥄 Pumpkin (plain, canned) - Not just for pies! Plain pumpkin is great for their digestion.

Foods to Avoid:
🚫 Stuffing, gravy, mashed potatoes with butter, garlic, onions, and desserts with chocolate or xylitol.

Allow your pet a quiet space they can retreat to in case the holiday celebration becomes too much. Let’s keep our pups safe and happy this holiday! 🍂

Another great program to match pets in need with people who need companions!

HSSC has partnered with Pets for Patriots to support the adoption of the most overlooked shelter animals by veterans in its community. 🇺🇸

Pets for Patriots recognizes HSSC’s shared passion for giving our nation’s veterans renewed purpose through companion pet adoption. By joining forces with Pets for Patriots, HSSC will offer waived adoption fees to veterans who adopt program-eligible dogs and cats through its partnership with Pets for Patriots.

Animals eligible for adoption through Pets for Patriots include dogs and cats who are adult, special needs, or long-term homeless, as well as larger breed dogs. The program is open to veterans from WWII to those in active duty. ❤️

“We help shelters inspire the adoption of the more overlooked animals in their care,” says Beth Zimmerman, Pets for Patriots executive director. “At the same time, veterans find a new sense of purpose through the unconditional love of a shelter pet who has been given a second, maybe even a third, chance at life.”

Veterans must first apply to Pets for Patriots online and provide relevant eligibility documents. Approval typically takes no more than two business days, after which veterans can visit Humane Society of Scott County to find their new best friends.

Today is ! I am so lucky and grateful to be able to work with dogs every day; they are always happy and a wonderful distraction from the chaos of social media!

In honor of this special day I'm asking all my followers to add a picture of your dog, a friend's dog, the cute dog you saw on the street, ANY PICTURES OF DOGS!! ‼️‼️ Donations DESPERATELY needed ‼️‼️

We grossly underestimated how much we needed to pay our prior veterinary bills! No fault of the clinics! We forgot the entirety of the gem crew needed medical in July, as did a few others! This invoice is many pages long!

Just for THIS invoice alone, we need $2,763.84. We estimated $3,500 for to pay all of our vet bills. We actually need $4,500! We had raised all of Trax’ surgery costs which is earmarked and set aside and we raised $1,225 of veterinary bills needed. We still need ⏩️ $3,275 ⏪️ to pay our veterinary bills!

If you can help us, we and the kitties would be forever grateful! We already have a pretty big load of medical needed in August, so we need to pay this ASAP!
