A pretty good week a few went home got a few mounted and another dropped off rounding out the year.

A nice late season bow kill dropped off tonight from all the way up from Mount Sterling. I appreciate the word of mouth and the business!

Finally trying to get back in the normal shop rhythm. Got one finished one mounted but still had to skin out 3 deer. A few more to skin but I’m glad to be back putting them together.

Gun season has finally came to an end. Some very awsome bucks brought in and today was no exception. There are more coming that have asked for spots so I’m only looking at maybe 8 more spots If they do fill I will need a few months to get freezer space. Thank you all for 8yrs doing what I love God Bless you all and thanks so much!

The third cat dropped of since season last Saturday. A big 32 incher! I will take a few more of these but I only want bobcats this year. Thanks!

A very busy Monday with some big bucks still rolling in along with a bobcat. With a week left of gun season I’m at my goal number but I can still take a few more. With that said I may and may not max out this week so if you are bringing one please let me know to keep room for you. I know of about 5 more repeat clients coming. Thank you all agsin for the support on another great year!

A couple more dandy’s dropped off today!
Here’s the hours for the weekend:
I will be hunting both mornings with that said drop offs can start at 9am central time. If I’m not back my wife can get you checked in. The deer must be caped if I’m not there. We will probably hunt the evening leaving around 2central. Give me until 6:30 after the hunt to get back then I’ll be here until late. Please contact me before coming by to ensure someone is around during gun season. 270-634-2915 please leave a message or text if I do not answer. Also remember I can cape deer off the body for $20 but I rather it already be caped.

A heads up to people dropping off I have a couple maybe more extra wall pedestal forms. If your deer fits one of these and you want it mounted on one I will give a discount on a wall pedestal on the extra forms only. First come first to get just need them used and out of the way.

No lack of practice skinning here another big one dropped off! Just an update on mounts I will be mounting my last deer before gun season opens tomorrow until gun is over. All early bow deer will be on form. December I’ll be back on deer and a few predators that came in early. Thanks all!

I got this photo from a client who just picked up his buck the one in the top middle. I started my taxidermy journey 8 seasons ago. The deer on the left was one of my very first mounts that he actually dropped off to me at my former job. So the history of my first customer mount and 8 yes later sending one home to the same person. The other buck is also my mount from a few years ago. I appreciate the continued repeat business Garrett Bryant!

What a crazy 3 days! It’s felt like opening week of gun season. Already in double digits on deer with more coming. God has Blessed me for sure with a great client base. On top of Mason getting a great buck I’ve already had a potential 190in dropped off looking to be in Rack magazine!

Proud daddy right here!! Mason didn’t take long to fill out the back of his tag. 2 years in a row getting velvet. His best deer ever. Called him turkey head lol. There’s nothing like having your son take a great buck with you there. A big thanks to Bradley Willis for the help tonight.

Mounted up a buck today with one of those rare pretty capes. Update I’m into early season deer one turkey in the mix coming up.
New this season will be the price due to various factors including shipping, supply cost, insurance, and shop utilities being taxed. Also turnaround isn’t shrinking I’ve had a very busy intake in 2023 already. I’ll take deer in until my freezers are full. With that said a regular shoulder mount will be $600 with $200 deposit. I gave it a couple years without going up but unfortunately I’ve got to. Thank you all that have supported me I strive to give you the best mount I can put out on each one. I received my award from the Tennessee show this evening. It hadn’t made it by the time of the show but I’ve got it now. I almost pulled out of trying for it but with the encouragement of some of my taxidermists buddies I put all my mounts in professional. Shocked when I heard my name was an understatement. Still a lot of work and get better at what I do! Thanks all and thanks to the guys n gals at the TTA!

We had a good day at the Outdoor expo here in Columbia hanging out with some taxidermy buddies and their families. A nice little competition before we head to the big one next week.
I took best commercial turkey and won best Professional turkey along with Mason taking best youth whitetail. Jessi Riggs Taylor enter in her first competition getting a 2nd place ribbon in amateur. I also took a blue ribbon on my commercial mount and a couple red ribbons on my pro deer. I’ll post more Mount pictures after next weeks show.

All velvet antlers are treated and drying. Also a pic of a fleshed early deer with only a burr to burr cut so no worries about a seam line.

Opening weekend in the shop was very slow but Monday came alive! A couple giant 145s hardhorn and a couple of giant velvets in today. Got a Tank coming tomorrow and a big one from Mt Washington next week! It's starting off good. Blessed!

This pic is of a cape a customer brought me that is done the way it should be. You can cut up behind the front legs and back if you don't want to pull the legs out. Your taxidermist needs a lot more brisket and front leg than you might think. I also posted a pic of one that was cut bad. It can be fixed but it's a better mount if it's cut right. Thanks to all!

I had some company at the shop today. Mr Sammy Blair stopped by to put a score on some of the big deer from Adair co that were brought to me this past season.
