Friends call me Sassy Jo. Now ain’t you jus’ pretty as you could be? Don’t be frettin bout my name I got southern style some mistake for sass. I can turn on southern charm for good folks. I mind my manners good as any southern belle. I’m glad you came by, shuga pie. I’ll sing for ya…. I lived back in the shelter, you see. Alota cats & kittens & the dogs & me. I got a litterbox, a bowl, & a camouflage blanket. & a Country Girl Can Survive. Country Cats can survive! I can wrestle me a fake mouse all day long. I can eat catfish from dusk ‘til dawn. ‘Cause you can’t fancy us up. & you can’t make us bark. ‘Cause one-of-‘em ole cats raised on southern ground. We say grace & we say ma’am. If you aint into that we don’t give a meow. We can grow our own catnip & purr our own songs. Ain’t too many things this ole cat can’t do. I purr myself all the way to sleep laying at my owner’s feet. I had a yuppie owner back in the city. He never called me by my name jus’ KittyKitty. I taught myself to camouflage in when I can. This camouflage couldn’t help with that businessman. He used to show me pictures of Persian cats. & I’d purr him some down-home songs. But he dropped me at the shelter before my birthday night. For not camouflaging in I lost the yankee life. I’d love to throw some litter into that dude’s shoes. & tease him with my ole feather stick too. But that’d be too sassy to be fittin’. I’d rather go home with you. What do you say to me cuddlin up on the couch with ya, honey? I’ll purr you some good down-home songs. That’s an honest to goodness promise.
