A Bot Fly, also known as Cuterebra larvae, can affect cats, dogs and even some rodents. They are commonly seen during late summer to early fall. Animals are often affected by passing through contaminated areas that a female fly has laid eggs at. Females deposit eggs around the openings of animal nests, burrows, along runways of the normal hosts, or on stones or vegetation in these areas. The eggs then hatch in response to the animals body heat, in the nose, mouths, or open wounds.
If you suspect a pet has a bot fly infestation, please call us so we can properly treat your pet. Home removal is not recommended, due to risk of rupturing the Cuterebra and causing reoccurring abscesses, fever, and lethargy.

VIEWER DISCRETION ADVISED!!

This is a uterus filled with infection weighing about 3lbs. A pyometra is a uterus filled with fluid and infection. This starts as fluid build up within the uterus due to excess hormones in intact female dogs. If left untreated and when infection is present, can make an animal extremely sick and eventually lead to death.

The best and easiest way to prevent this is to spay your pets. This can happen in many species, but commonly seen in cats and dogs. In the comments you will see the size of a normal dog uterus.

If you ever notice your pet having an urgency to urinate, asking to go out frequently, or having accidents in the house. Your pet could be suffering from a urinary tract infection.
Urinary tract infections can be treated, but if left untreated can lead to urinary stones. Check out these cool stones! Very small but concerning when trapped in the urethra, this can lead to your pet not being able to urinate. Then becoming an emergency.
