I have always been committed to the animals that have no way of communicating to the average person and feel I can help bridge the gap between K-9 and the humans to help for a good relationship between both.I trained and showed my first dog 30 yrs ago. My dogs have earned their Canine Good Citizen and Therapy Dog International through AKC, plus they have earned numerous agility titles from America

n Kennel Club and Canine Performance Events.I am also certified to train and test dogs to earn their All Star Puppy Award and Canine Good Citizen from American Kennel Club. So people can take their pets to a nursing home or hospital or school and the list goes on to what great things the owners and pets can do for the community, not to mention the great feelings the handlers have in doing the right thing.I am currently studying to become Certified Professional Dog Trainer from the Delta Society which will enhance my ability to be better as I am always striving to do the best that I can do to help people and their companions get the most out of their relationships. A1 Positive Dog Training would like to offer a judgment free place to come and learn to train/ work your dog. We can offer: clicker training, agility, obedience, tricks, scent work, as well as a safe place to learn how to handle being around other dogs and or people. We understand that not all training methods work for all dogs and people. Our goal is to have a safe, judgment free place to come to have fun and build a trusting relationship between you and your dog. At A1 Positive Dog Training you will have the opportunity to earn the Canine Good Citizen title through the AKC and/or a trick title (through Do More With Your Dog and the AKC's upcoming Trick Dog Program!). Your dog does not need to be a pure bred for these titles! We can also help you get ready to compete in agility and obedience. We unfortunately have some reports of upper respiratory infections/kennel cough going around!

We have NOT had any reports from our facility.

Please let us know if your dog is showing any symptoms of a cough or cold and keep them home to rest.

Please educate yourself on how it spreads and how to help prevent it.

Please if you choose to vaccinate against it , do it at least 7 days prior to your scheduled stay.
And take note ,being vaccinated DOES NOT mean your dog is safe. There's way too many strains to cover.

If your dog shows symptoms while with us you will be asked to pick up immediately.

If you have any questions or concerns please reach out.

We will be as transparent as possible.

Thank you!
Deb and Ludgie

Fear is the easiest thing to condition into dogs and the hardest to resolve, so it is important to understand where fear comes from so we can work to prevent it.

I NEED TO FEEL SAFE!

Like all living creatures, including us, dogs just want to feel safe – it’s a basic survival need.

When we think about feeling safe it’s natural to just think about not being harmed or being in danger, but it’s not just about physical safety - feeling emotionally or psychologically safe is just as important.

While physical safety may be obvious and simpler to address, emotional safety is far more complex and not always easy to recognise or identify.

The same applies to our dogs – they are sentient beings whose behaviour is triggered and driven by emotions.

So many behaviour problems that we see in dogs stem from the brain saying– “this is not safe!”

A dog that lunges and barks or behaves aggressively with another dog or person is probably doing so because they feel unsafe. They are trying to make the scary thing go away.

A dog that is guarding resources is doing so because they are afraid that the resource will be taken away – they don’t feel safe when another animal or person approaches that resource.

A dog that is reacting to fireworks or thunderstorms or other noises is doing so because they don’t feel safe. The same can be said for separation distress – the feelings of panic when left alone – “I am not safe!”.

Some dogs may never get over a specific fear, but doing all we can to help dogs feel safe in our world is one of the most important gifts we can give them.

Our first responsibility should not be about training, obedience or trying to change behaviour, but to focus first and foremost on building trust, self-confidence, resilience, creating a safe and secure base and being the person that our dogs can rely on and trust.

In the words of Dr. Gabor Maté - "Feeling safe is the treatment and creating safety is the work".

In my words (as it pertains to dogs) – It is our responsibility to put in the work to enable our dogs to feel safe and when they feel safe, this will be part of the treatment or the solution to the problem.

What does specialized boarding look like?
Being cage free for my senior's .
A balance of play/stimulation and proper rest times.
I don't do big play group's. When they are out,for play and exercise it's not a free for all and managed by me. Absolutely no bullying.
The owner's get a lot video and Correspondence from me throughout their dogs visit. Yes it takes time and effort on my part, but well worth it.
Yes I'm a small operation.
Sometimes it's not always about how much many you make.
This girl here needs some one on one time.
