Horses like this don’t come around too often!

Tigger is a 16.1h 5 yr old registered appaloosa that has been started correctly and is ready to finish your way. He has three lovely gaits that take a lot of ground, he’ll have no issue keeping up with the strides in hunters, he’s game enough for the rodeo world, he’s adjustable and has zero stop in him unless asked. He’s been schooling 2ft as he just turned 5, dosent care about fill, gates, wierd looking distance’s.

Tigger is as safe as they come! Trail rides anywhere and everywhere, not spooky at all. He’ll stand in the cross ties and ground tie anywhere and everywhere. This a realistic read, it’s such a sad thing that I hope never comes to fruition.

Are horses going to be a thing of the past?

When I was younger, many more people had horses in their back yards. Kids could spend the day at the barn, or the summer for that matter. Not always much supervision. But lots of fun

Now it’s mostly lessons or organized events. Maybe something kids do a few times a year.

That doesn’t mean there are not kids that take the sport seriously, I just feel like there are less opportunities. More options w other activities. More supervision required and less chance or desire for ownership

In our part of the world prices have skyrocketed. The basics like hay and grain but also farrier and vet. Trying to build a barn can cost as much as a house You have to be fairly committed to own a horse. Then you realize they need a horse friend so now that’s at least two

Many horse owners have left Naples because of the cost and the heat. We are heavily an agricultural states. From tomatoes and citrus to cattle. I heard a report yesterday we used to produce 80 percent of our county’s citrus but that is now fallen to 17 percent

Our fields are plowed up for homes and new towns. Ranches are being converted to enormous developments. 5 acres a home and a small barn will set you back $1million Board is $1000-1500 in most places here. It’s the natural cycle of things for costs to increase but at what point are horses just priced out?

In 20 years where there still be a place for the horse?

Remember to keep your horses cool in this heat wave!

Ride early in the morning or in the evening & even then watch the humidity to make sure! If you happen to ride during the day, try and hose off your horse for at least 20 minutes to ensure proper cool down.

Emerald Performance Horses has spots available for training or a consignment horse. This program specializes in eventers, hunters, and dressage horses, however we work with all disciplines and all types. Horses are schooled 5 days a week with an emphasis on kindness and willingness to build a partnership.

This mare 🥰❤️ I absolutely love her. Almost 2 weeks back in full work and she’s blossoming.

I’m gonna break it down, in this video- she looks annoyed cause she was lol. She looks semi easy right? One thing I’ve learned training horses is I can make it look easy. But you don’t see how hard I’m bracing my core to stay upright cause she’s leaning so hard into my hands. You don’t see my inside leg (thigh) putting pressure on a constant to keep her semi straight. You can’t see my outside leg going a little back to use my calf from pushing her hip to the outside. You cant see me put my outside elbow back to use my half hault. So many little things you don’t see.

So pro tip, when you’re looking at horses to buy - remember they look great in that video. When you buy it and bring it home ask the trainer the little things. Ask them what aids they’ve used on the horse so you can use them and tweak them how you see fit. 🥰

I have absolutely no idea how I still have this guy! I’m willing to make a killer deal on him to get him moved and find his person ❤️

Neville is a 6 year old 14.1h registered Gypsy vanner/ haflinger that is absolutely drop dead gorgeous. His movement is absolutely stunning, his personality is a yellow lab that sits on your lap to cuddle all day. He’s solid WTC and is coursing 2’6 jumps currently with room for more and will trail ride ALL DAY. He goes english and western. This guy is husband safe, child safe, pool noodle safe, grab something from the ground safe & mom safe. For those us of us whose moms or husbands aren’t horse fans.

I have so many good things to say about this guy, I could type all day. He ties, stands to be bathed, he’s a gentleman on the ground AT ALL TIMES. He loads and trailers like a dream! If there’s a windstorm this horse will still stand right next to you unbothered (I was bothered, he was not). He’s middle pecking order in the herd and gets along with everyone.

Good weather on a farm means more outside time! We’ve been busy breaking in babies, new stall doors, seeding pastures & of course ride time for the kiddos. The work on a farm never stops but so blessed to be able to do it ☺️

Infinty 🌟

Infinty is a 9 yr old 16.2 trakehner cross that’s looking for a new zip code. He loads, ties, clips, bathes, stands for Farrior and everything in between. Has 3 big lofty gaits and is perfect for the confident ammy but has superb talent for a pro too! He’s an in your pocket horse and will stand to be groomed all day long.

He a fabulous jumper and can do any ring but also has enough talent to do dressage too! He’s the same horse on and off property, you can always expect the same thing from him. Like any horse he has quirks, they’re minimal and easy to handle. Price reflects that. I’ve used him to teach lessons, pony rides and I’ve ponied horses off of him as well.

He’s done multiple CT’s, jumper shows and has been trail ridden all over. Asking low fives to the perfect home. Located in culpeper VA.

Levi 🥰

Levi is a 9 year old registered Arabian who is a total sweetheart and has done about everything under the sun from jumping, barrels, and play day events! Levi was off for a couple months and has just been brought back into work. He ties, bathes, loads and is loud! This horse will have full blown conversations with you and still be a complete gentlemen with you. So if you like to have therapy sessions with your horse, this guy is for you. He’s good under saddle, a little rusty but easy to get going.

Levi would be suitable for anything really except a beginner. You gotta know how to steer cause this horse will just keep going straight in the direction you point em too.

We have a ton of mud, Virginia winters 🙄. But we have tons of space where there isn’t mud the horses can go super thankful for that. But somehow they all decide standing in the mud is the better option lol

My horses wear blankets in the winter.
Anything not in a show pen lives outside full time only sheets in bad weather.
I don’t run shoes on 90% of the ones I own.
I am a firm believer that if you keep a feeding program simple, your horses will look and feel better.
They eat before we do.
Training and personal horses go out on pasture and graze like normal horses.
We turn out in small groups to socialize.
Mine don’t get fancy sheets, therapies and special supplements just because I feel like spending money to try them out. I have supplements that I have seen results with and will use as needed.
I don’t fix what isn’t broken.
I handle my babies minimally where they only lead, tied pick up feet until fall/winter of their yearling year.
They are taught to tie and be saddled as long yearlings.
I start mine before they are 3. Why? Because I’d rather get drug around or have one act silly as a 2yo than a full grown, fully stuck in their way 5yo.
The initial plan for each c**t will be to futurity their 3/4 year old year. Do I have a problem holding off on one who isn’t ready? Nope, not at all.
My horses ride in a stock trailer, sometimes saddled and ready to go right to riding upon arrival.
All of them work cattle and see a real days work from time to time.
I don’t ride the real green ones for over half an hour each ride. I feel I’ve gotten what I have asked from them, I get off and they retain that for the next ride.
I don’t inject everything I ride.
Their hair is better cared for than my own. (I love good tails) 😂
I don’t roundpen. In fact, we don’t even own one.
I don’t let anything walk over me or be disrespectful.
I respect them and appreciate the fact that we are able to train a 1200 pound animal to do the things we ask them to do. There’s no text book to owning or training a horse. We are all out here doing the best we can and that’s what keeps it all so fun and exciting!

Mr. Henry is in for some ride time while his owner enjoys Florida for a minute! He’s prob the most playful horse I’ve ever met! Super excited to work with him ☺️
