When you think you are “just getting a dog” or “don’t need papers” or give a breeder a hard time about their prices think twice about all of their hard work they put into raising a good natured, healthy, and well conformed dachshund.

For instance, I got up at 5am this morning to head to the airport to deliver 2 puppies for a 7am flight and found out at 5:30am that nanny was a no show. This is just one example of the hard work your breeder puts into getting you your sweet baby into your home.

When you consider buying a puppy and have excuses or are trying to rob a breeder then you are not the right purchaser for our family. Because there are ALWAYS unforeseen pet emergencies and expenses and if you can’t afford an extra few hundred dollars for the purchase how will you afford a vet bill that is in the hundreds or thousands?

Just picked up our stud….Hawkeye…..from my mom! He lives with my parents but is down at our place for a week helping us produce our next gorgeous litter of long hair creams! Stay tuned for pairing updates!

Our middle son (can you have a middle when you have 4?😂) finally got his wish! He kept back a puppy from our first all long hair cream litter! Meet Rosina (Rosie)! She is a choc based shaded cream piebald. She is small like her daddy! Case is working hard to potty train and teach some obedience commands!

Updated 7/26- He found his Furever home Does a male or a female make a better pet for you and your family? It’s not uncommon for people to believe that a female dog will make a better pet. We get a lot of calls for people wanting that “special little girl”. For whatever reason they don’t think that females will exhibit “alpha” behaviors like humping and/or marking. A lot of people think that females are more passive and friendly and that they don’t take part in fighting over dominance, which could NOT be farther from the truth. If you check out the structure of dog packs, the females determine the pecking order and rule the roost. The result of that behavior is that the females become more stubborn, independent, and territorial than the males. These females are much more intent on exercising their control by participating in that “alpha” behavior like humping. Most fighting will usually break out between two females. Males tend to be more affectionate, exuberant, attentive, and even more demanding of attention. The males are very attached to their owners, tending to be more dedicated, reliable and less temperamental. They are more sociable, more accepting of other pets, playful for years, and take quicker to children. Most boys are easily motivated by treats/food, words of praise and are so eager to please that training actually becomes easier. Their playful nature, however, can make males more easily distracted. The boys are more likely to act silly and more puppy-like, always wanting to play games, no matter what their age. The boys are fun-loving until the day they die, whereas girls tend to be more standoffish and dignified the older they get. Neutered males rarely exhibit secondary sexual behavior such as marking and lifting their legs or humping.

It was a long night but Friede gave birth to a beautiful chocolate and tan female! This singleton pup weighed in at 9.35oz! Mom and our Angel baby are doing great!
