We no longer recommend heat lamps for. Those who don’t know how to use .HEAT LAMPS CAUSE FIRES. For those of you using, or considering heat lamps in your coops - I want you to look at each of these pictures and see exactly what the potential outcome is. ALL of these coop fires could have been avoided. PLEASE do not use heat lamps. A hen with frost bite can be treated, is still alive, and would still be better than the guilt of knowing your birds were burned alive.
Heat is never necessary .And most other places If you have a shelter free of moisture, draft, and with ventilation, your chickens can easily handle below 0 temperatures.
Do NOT recommend heat lamps in coops.
And just because you have used a heat lamp for 40 years, doesn't mean it is safe. And yes, chickens are flammable too.

The weekend was great but eventually we have to face the music...of cackling chickens, that is!
We finished a cute 5x8 walk-in coop, completely custom, and topped off with a Cupola and Weathervane at their request!
Pictures of the inside show a roosting area with droppings table and glassboard floor for easier cleanup.

We just finished this Henhouse and Chicken Run
This was a tough setup, took a bit to get it set into place but in the end it looks great!
It has a single slope metal roof.
Plenty of ventilation and easy access.
FRP up the walls for deep-litter method.
We even installed an electrical kit for an infrared heater and ventilation fan!

No shade to place your coop in?
Here's a tip...When ordering a coop, look for additional ventilation options. Constant airflow will keep your chickens happier on those hot summer nights.
Our Brahma coops come with a ventilation door already installed and our Plymouth coops can be upgraded with additional vent doors as well.
