This is worth sharing. Thanks Kerry.

01/03/2018

we will be trying as hard as we can to start For The Birds over again...from scratch. If anyone knows of a small barn or garage in Green Bay or dePere where we can get the bird feed sales going again, I would love to hear about it. Please call me at this number by removing the asterisk. 920**3*3*6-3*7*4*8*. I would also consider taking on a partner in this incarnation. We have much to discuss. Barbara

I think is horribly cold out there...keep the feeders full so the birds can make it through the night! And don't forget a little water for them.. Thank you

12/05/2016

We will open again soon in another location.

09/14/2016

Don't forget to keep the hummingbird feeders clean and available. With migration starting, they will need as much support as we can give them. This is critical for a strong journey south.

06/14/2016

be patient. The Orioles are on their usual jelly break for the few weeks that the females are incubating and only collecting live insects for the young. In a couple weeks, the moms bring the fledglings to the jelly feeders and teach them how to completely pig out. Stock up on grape jelly now because the frenzy is about to begin!

05/13/2016

Wow! Today and yesterday have been great days for birding the passeriformes coming through and coming to stay for the summer...have a bunch of Indigo Buntings, yes, finally a hummingbird and Orchard Orioles. The female Northern Orioles have arrived and female Rose Breasted Grosbeaks! Winds must have been favorable the last few nights for the night flyers and all is right with the world! I hope you are all seeing and feeding all of our featured friends. I miss being at the store so much and hope that one of these days we can reopen and share our sightings.

05/12/2016

I usually have hummingbirds in for two weeks by now, yet haven't seen a single on at my house. Anyone else missing theirs?

05/05/2016

Woke up this morning facing out the window...opened my eyes to a big orange oriole. I've got mine back, how 'bout you?

05/05/2016

So, is it safe to say that the Orioles are consistent with the May 3 arrival? I am Far East of Green Bay, haven't had one yet, betcha my arrival day will be tomorrow...they are such a wonderful reminder that in spite of everything, life goes on and we will all be okay.
remember, many of them fly over the Gulf of Mexico to get back onto their routes which come up the Mississippi River Valley then spreading out across the upper Midwest.. That journey is so remarkable for such small creatures..and hummingbirds do it too..makes me love birds more!

05/03/2016

Today is the day that I bet some of you will be seeing Orioles! Please post here when and where you see them so that I can keep my flight logs in order for them"

04/26/2016

Note hummingbirds.net for arrivals.. Now, I know it says they are already here, but that is questionable. I think a lot of people who post this early here are doing so just to see their dot on the map. If you go back to when it was a little known site, you will see that rarely did they show up before May 1. Please let me know when you see your first! I am trying to keep honest lists. Best, B

04/20/2016

Remember that the hummingbirds will be back around the 28th of April, and the Orioles will be back by May 3. Aldi still has the best prices on grape jelly and white cane sugar..stock up the larder for a summer of tropical joy feeding the beauties!

04/12/2016

Brown Creepers all over today in Baird Creek Area and tributaries. They may have been here long ago, but they are really gathering ants from the sap of my pines!

01/29/2016

There are lots of snowy owls in the New London area. And I have seen one out on Far East Mason street. Sits on the light poles near Baylake Bank.

11/28/2015

Happy Small Business Saturday! We wish we were there today to have a visit with our beloved friends and family. I promise we will be open again after this hiccup and better than ever! Love to you all!

10/18/2015

The Juncos are everywhere! Keep an eye out under your feeders, as they feed only on the ground. Little gray birds with white breasts and the telltale two white tail feathers that flash when they fly off.

10/09/2015

We are closed for a few weeks while we go through a change of ownership. Please be patient until the new friends take over and your birds will be thrilled when things are back to the fly-in restaurant.

09/20/2015

The turtles have not hatched yet. In reading about them. They can actually go two years in the eggs and come out next summer..will let everyone know how our little friends are doing if they happen to hatch.

09/20/2015

Just open until the 28th, so please stop in and see if we have something that might be just right for a Christmas present or for yourself. We are also selling the store fixtures and some shelving. The new owners will be carrying our great feeds and feeders, just have to give them a little time to get everything rolling. Looking forward to seeing everyone stopping in and visiting these next few days...

08/21/2015

Still a bunch of juvenile Orioles at home, from time to time I see adults, probably passing through on migration. Going through about a jar of grape jelly every three days, still plenty of orange action!

07/30/2015

We have new hours at the store, during our transition to new ownership:
Monday 10-5
Tuesday Closed
Wednesday Closed
Thursday and Friday open 10-5
Saturday 10-2
Sunday Closed

Thank you and the feed is fresh and the birds are singing!

07/30/2015

Well, every time I think the Orioles are gone, I happen to catch one on the jelly feeder or another on the hummingbird feeders. So they are still here. Plenty of guests have come into the store with info that they, too are feeding the beauties. This could be one of those years when we see them staying through August. Just do not ever let the feeders go empty!

07/24/2015

Lots of young Orioles still hitting the jelly at home. That, along with the young Blue Jays gorging on the peanuts makes me a happy girl. The fact remains, keep the food coming and the birds will keep coming too. Aldi stores still has the very best price on grape jelly...and at three jars a day between the store and home, it is good to find a bargain.

07/09/2015

Going through about two jars of jelly a day at the house, and one and a half at For The Birds. The fledglings are enjoying tripling up at the feeders and always make the mee-mee sounds when they think they can fool a parent into giving up a mouthful. We are trying to set up a live camera feed before they all migrate south so everyone can enjoy the antics.

07/03/2015

Enjoying Peter Baldwin's photos of Cyrilla, his great tit friend and himself!

07/03/2015

Remember that fireworks can frighten birds out of trees at night. While they often accept the flash bangs as thunder and lightning, they can become confused and fly off away from family and food source.. If you can live without the racket, maybe more fledglings will too.

06/20/2015

Feel free to submit photos to your posts on the page here. We have so many great photographer friends who work hard at getting beautiful images..

06/20/2015

Looks like the orioles are back! After the annual abandonment of the feeders for two or three weeks, they return to the jelly feeders. I assume that during the time they are gone, they are bringing insects to the female who is the only one incubating eggs. When the females can leave the nest to feed, we see both males and females eating again at the jelly feeders with righteous abandon. I am feeding about ten individual males and seeing females about 1/3 of the time but cannot differentiate how many individuals like I can with the males. It is time to get those feeders full and fresh again because the adults will bring the juveniles to the feeder as soon as they fledge. Jelly up!

06/05/2015

Looks like the sun is trying to come out. Has anyone noticed a decline in activity at your feeders?

06/03/2015

Today was a great day for quiet listening to the singing birds. Enjoy it now, take it in because late July comes and everyone goes quiet. Then it isn't courting, more often it is calling to group together or calling out warnings of danger or trespass.

05/26/2015

Anyone seeing any Scarlet Tanagers? There used to be lots of the. Along the Fox River Trail along the north end of De Pere, but haven't seen them myself this year.

05/26/2015

A little rain to make puddles for bird bathing seems to be keeping about a hundred various flyers clean and fresh for the coming warm weather.

05/03/2015

And at home today, within 1/2 hour of when the arrived last year. As well, a small army of pine siskins has finally taken over the finch feeders along with white-crowned sparrows. Dare we say SPRING is here?

05/03/2015

Oriole yesterday at the store!

05/02/2015

Any news from Bird Fest in Oshkosh?

05/02/2015

Get those hummingbird feeders out and full and ready. I suspect a lot of you will be seeing the green beauties this weekend. We have had some days with insect hatch and more blooms around so this is really the time.

04/24/2015

And no, this isn't too early for the hummingbirds, they can be expected during the last and second to the last week of April depending upon the way the weeks work out.

04/21/2015

Milwaukee friends, any hummingbirds yet?
