Hi everyone! Because Gone to the Dogs is licensed with the state of IL, I just received an email from the IL Dept of Agriculture regarding the (probable) bacterial infection spreading among dog populations. So far, NO CASES IN ILLINOIS! We have a lot to be grateful for this year, but we need to remain vigilent 🩷. Michelle

Good evening,

On behalf of the State Veterinarian and Bureau of Animal Health and Welfare, this message provides information to licensees about the mounting reports of canine respiratory disease illness. While there is heightened concern amongst veterinary professionals across Illinois, no suspect cases have been confirmed. To confirm a potential emerging disease, all tests for known diseases (Mycoplasma and all strains of canine influenza) should be negative to rule out those diseases. At this time, we are aware of the illness being reported in up to 11 states across the nation, some of which are border states to Illinois. States affected are working with their state and national diagnostic laboratories to identify the potential causative agent.

If you have questions or concerns about the animals at your facility, please contact your veterinarian. If your veterinarian believes they have results indicative of a potential case after all rule-outs, they should contact the Bureau of Animal Health and Welfare. We recommend evaluating your current vaccine requirements and biosecurity practices as well as your policies and protocols surrounding the acceptance and movement of animals, especially interstate movements. We are continually monitoring this situation and will provide updates as needed.

Hello all GTTD clients. I have had several questions and concerns regarding the new Respiratory Illness in dogs. Vets and Researchers are not quite sure what it is yet, but they are working hard to figure it out. From our understanding it’s very similar to Kennel Cough. The symptoms include green discharge from eyes, runny nose, and a cough. If left untreated it can quickly turn into Pneumonia. It seems to be affecting senior dogs and puppies the most. Spreading within 2-3 days of contact and can take a few weeks to go away. We do not have any cases of it at our facility. With Holiday season right around the corner a lot of pet owners will be boarding their dogs. We ask that ALL pet owners who are boarding to please keep their pet from daycare for a week after bringing them home to ensure no symptoms pop up, and help stop the spread of whatever this may be. As for us, we will be cleaning tirelessly as always ensuring that all equipment used, and water dishes drank out of are cleaned thoroughly and daily. We’ve always taken pride in how clean our facility is, and we won’t let up now.
Please do not hesitate to call and ask with any questions. We will do our best to answer them, but this is new to all of us.

Thank You
Sami & Michelle

We’re NOT going anywhere!! Gone to the Dogs--Our Story!

It's easy to join the GTTD daycare pack! Call to set up a free 2 hour first visit! We will introduce your dog to daycare and evaluate how your furry pal likes it. Please bring in updated vaccination records showing current Rabies, Distemper and Bordetella (Kennel Cough) status. Your dog must be spayed or neutered if it is older than 5 months.

Gone to the Dogs was established May 4, 2010 by Michelle Bejbl and her daughter Kathleen Meyer. GTTD is housed in a building donated to Tails by Michelle and Kathleen, with a perpetual lease to GTTD. The building also provided much-needed veterinary space, and dog training space for Tails once the daycare is finished for the day. Since 2010, GTTD has developed a booming grooming service under Professional Groomer Josie Belmont and a cutting-edge training program with Certified Trainers Katie Morgan and Dan Velasquez.

Gone to the Dogs offers dogs a wonderful place to Play for the Day! Inside the building there is a 3500 square foot daycare floor that we also use for our training classes in the evenings. There is an equally large outside completely contained play area that the dogs absolutely love hanging out in! We also have a large grooming salon with plenty of room to work, so the grooming dogs don’t feel stressed while they get clean and beautiful. Training classes take place in on the large daycare floor, giving our trainers plenty of room to spread out and provide individual attention to all the dogs in class.

GTTD is reaching our ninth anniversary at this writing and we couldn't be more proud and content. Working with dogs is very fulfilling! The staff members at GTTD are some of the very best dog people on the planet! If you’d like to come and see our business please contact us at 815-758-7877.
