The girls and Stormy were loving the overcast skies and beautiful breeze today so much that it took a bit of coaxing to get them to come in for dinner ❤️

Could not be happier with the work IKE Fencing did at our farm.
Partial repair / partial new work came out even better than I expected and was close to budget.
I would recommend them if you need fence work!
The horses love it too!! 🐴

It was most definitely not our usual Christmas day this year! 🎄🎄🎄
With 50° weather I couldn’t resist getting everyone out onto the fields despite the mud clean up that took a few day!!!

T’was the night before Christmas and I'm out at the barn, checking the horses- making sure they’re all warm.

They're munching on hay, tucked cozy in stalls. Not aware that it's Christmas or a special time at all.

They dream of green pastures from their pine-scented beds. No visions of sugarplums dance in their heads.

This season is special, but the horses don't know. They safely eat their hay out of the cold.

It's nearly midnight now, the songs are all sung, then I remember a story told when I was young.

How our horses can all speak to us with ease and delight, on this very special Christmas Eve night.

I walk to the stable, going thru the barnyard.
Reasons unknown, a calling I can’t disregard.

I slide open the door stand there and smile,
Then slowly I walk down the dimly lit aisle.

A nicker from Elton, a soft snort from Vista, then sweet little Tully makes my heart race on.

A sleepy look from Winston, a quick kiss from Calani, and a long yawn from Stormy while he reaches for my hand.

Dexter’s eyes twinkle in the light and Liam crunches a peppermint with delight. BBQ let’s out a sigh, Sara comes into sight; their presence makes me feel warmer as I walk through the [unseasonably warm] night.

I think about parties bright lit and warm,
The ones we don't go to because of the farm.

And vacations and holidays that we usually don't get, because of the animals and chores to be met.

Walking back to the end of the barn aisle,
I stop to stroke Stormy, and linger awhile.

The horses stop eating, their ears they all lend, and together we all recall a lost friend. 🧡

In heaven now is where Izzo rests his head. Him and others watching from their cloud feather beds.

I could be at parties with laughter and mirth. But here, where I am right now is the best place on Earth.

ISO: Full time team member to work at Skibbereen Farm - boarding, training, lesson facility in Orchard Park, NY. We have large a lesson program, IEA and IHSA teams, showing clients of all levels and travel to both local and rated shows.

We have approximately 30 horses. Duties include (but not limited to) feeding, mucking out, turn out, changing blankets, giving meds, clipping, cleaning water troughs/buckets, maintain tidy barn. Help supervise part time staff that assists with chores.

Applicant must have experience working with horses. Ability to drive horse trailer and tractor is a bonus. You must be self motivated, punctual, honest, friendly, and observant. Open to Working couples. Non-smoker only for Housing availability.

More opportunities to learn more, teaching lessons, and some riding horses if qualified.
