Our runs are completely indoor so that we are able to see the dogs at all times. We also allow dogs who live together to stay in the same run and have playtime together. Outside Time - Each dog who stays with us is taken outside three - four times every day. We have two large, secure fenced areas attached to the building where the dogs are allowed to go out to run around and for potty time. To keep your dog on a regular schedule, our last let out time is after 8:00 at night. Prices:

My name is Amy Petersen and I am the owner of Country Acres Dog Boarding. I grew up riding, traveling and competing with horses, enjoying 4H, our border collies, and really anything that involved being outside on our family farm. I have always had a passion for animals, and growing up l loved to watch my Dad train dogs. As I grew older I discovered there was a large demand for animal care in the pet industry and I was determined to combine my passion and knowledge of animals with the want to become an entrepreneur. After attending dog grooming school and receiving numerous certifications and licenses within the pet care industry, I had the privilege to groom for two vet clinics, and went on to open my own grooming and boarding facility in 2012. It’s funny how things have a way of working out and just when I wanted to expand my boarding business Country Acres became available for purchase. When I took over this business in 2015 little did I suspect that it would take me to where I am today. This is what I do everyday, I live for it! I have been now caring for others pets for TWELVE YEARS! The experience I have gained, and relationships I have formed between my pets and their owners, I wouldn’t trade for the world.

You may also see Derek pop in from time to time to say hi, check in one of your pups, or give some extra treats when he gets a break from training horses here at our home. We are so blessed to get to do what we do and love that we get to do it together!

Just a quick reminder of things to avoid over Thanksgiving! We love seeing you and your pets, but no one wants a sick pet or emergency visit! Here are some tips on how to avoid an unplanned visit with us!

11/21/2023

Good Morning,

As I am sure you all heard on the news there is a new strain of "kennel cough" (that may turn into pneumonia) going around nationwide. We have not seen anything here at Country Acres but we are asking, coming into the busy Holiday season, and ALWAYS, if your dogs are showing any signs of coughing, runny nose, lethargy or any form of sickness to please keep them home and away from other dogs, if we notice any signs at drop off we will not accept them. PLEASE also avoid dog parks and daycares before coming in for your stay. As always, we are keeping things extra clean and disinfected between each dog, but, just like kids at daycare, some things we can not prevent completely, so help us to keep everyone healthy as best as we can. Also please have an emergency contact on hand at drop off in case your dog shows any signs while they are here and need to be picked up.

As it just so happens we had our yearly pop in state inspection today and passed with flying colors 😁 we are hoping our strictness on vaccines and cleaning procedures is on our side!

Happy Thanksgiving!

With summer coming in hot, we have a couple of things to ask from our amazing clients.

Please, if you no longer need a reservation you have made, please call us within 3 days of your time slot to cancel. We really try to be accomadting and understand plans change, but with the busy season, we ask you to work with us so we can open up spots for other guests. Unfortunately, we have been getting a lot of no calls/no shows. If this continues, we will be requiring a non refundable deposit at the time of booking for all major holidays and summer months. No shows with no calls will also be getting a bill sent out. So please help us to avoid that! 🙏

Also, we will be charging for the entire reservation made regardless if you decide to pick up early. We don't mind at all accommodating early pickups, but we have runs reserved for the entire time and are unable to fill it for someone else during peek season.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for your cooperation, and let's get the summer fun started! ☀️

K9 Comfort had a GREAT share today, and we had to reshare!

Dog parks make me so nervous. There is just no way of knowing the health status AND personalities of other people's dogs in such an unregulated environment.

And not to mention one wanting to bring their pet into a pet care facility, that is highly regulated, and does everything they can to keep pets healthy, right after being around a group/environment of unvaccinated pets 😵‍💫

I attached in the comments what it REALLY means to socialize your pet to set them up for success!

Hi all, I know many dog owners feel that dog parks are great for socializing dogs, but there are many factors to consider.

When talking with one of my students that is a local Emergency Room Veterinarian about dog parks she told me about how many cases she gets on a regular bases caused at dog parks. I asked her for a quote to share to help educate more dog owners to the realities of taking your dog to a dog park.

🩺 Here is Stephanie Silberstang, DVM, Emergency Medicine full quote;

📍"The majority of dog bite injuries that I see in the emergency room occur at the dog park. Large groups of dogs, of varying sizes and play styles, in small spaces is a recipe for disaster. I have treated anything from a nick on the ear to loss of life after a fight at the dog park. In addition to bite wounds, I have also treated kennel cough, gastrointestinal infections, heat stroke, foreign body ingestions, and injuries after escape from the dog park. Generally speaking, dog parks are unsafe."

📍 Please understand to properly socialize dogs we must advocate for all the dogs, and create a environment that is safe for them. In NYC most dog parks are so small it does not give many dogs the option to get away from uncomfortable situations, and most owners are not learned how to see dogs' stress, avoidance and appeasement signals, which puts dogs past their threshold, that lead to many fights.

📍 Many dog parks do not have large and small sections to separate dogs to allow appropriate sized dogs to play and when they do many owners do not abide by them leading to smaller dogs being in very dangerous situations.

📍Owners bring their dogs to the dog parks before they've formed a relationship with them, have formed a common language through training, and have learned to understand their dog's triggers, which can lead to dangerous situations.

📍There is so much unknown about the other dogs at dog parks, including their health, and vaccinations so it causes many dogs to get sick after visiting them.

📍I understand there are dog parks that have great members that do a better job at abiding by the rules but we must be cautious and set our dogs up for success. if you feel you want to take your dog, please take the time to get to know your dog better after adoption. Let your puppy mature and go to a controlled puppy socialization class, teach your dog to have at least basic obedience and a solid recall. Research the dog park and how the attendees monitor their dogs, every time before entering.
