The Eureka Springs Bark Park began with the love of a dog, Percy. A dog park was in Eureka Springs Parks Department's Master Plan for Harmon Park, but not having anyone to spearhead the effort the dog park remained unbuilt. However, in September of 2012, Percy's mom founded a small grassroots committee that fundraised nearly $20,000 and built the park all within 22 months, opening on July 14, 2014
. Although all of the fencing, signage, p**p stations, benches, kiosk and fountain were paid for by fundraising efforts of the grassroots Eureka Springs Dog Park Advisory Committee (ESDPAC) the project would not have been realized had Eureka Springs Parks Dept not allowed the unused hillside of Harmon Park to become what is now the Bark Park. The dog park is maintained by the Parks Dept with the help of the ongoing ESDPAC. Donations for maintenance, future projects, and improvements are always appreciated! The Eureka Springs Bark Park is located in Harmon Park at the corner of Grand Ave & Polk St. Head north on Main St from downtown, hang a left at the Train Station (Grand) and follow it up the hill and around to the stop sign. The Bark Park will be directly in front of you! Turn right and follow fence line to parking lot.
