Did you know that you should be able to touch your dog ANYWHERE on their body without them reacting? Gently touching their paws, inside/around their mouth, neck, and everywhere else helps desensitize them to handling. Below are some reasons as to why starting this practice as early as possible is crucial

🐾👶🏻 A dog that tolerates touch is safer around children and strangers. Teaching them to accept handling can prevent defensive reactions, which is especially important in social situations or when interacting with unfamiliar or new people.

🩺 🪒 Dogs that are comfortable with being touched are much easier to handle during vet exams and grooming sessions. This can significantly reduce stress for both the dog and owner making those visits positive experiences rather than dreadful ones.

🐶 🧠 Desensitization helps prevent the development of fear or anxiety related to touch. Many dogs may have had negative experiences in the past, leading to sensitivity in certain areas. Gradual exposure can help them overcome these fears, no matter the dog’s age.

❤️🐕 Regular and gentle handling fosters a stronger bond between the dog and its owner. It builds trust and helps the dog feel secure in their environment.

😄🐾Dogs that are comfortable with touch are generally easier to train and manage. They are more likely to respond positively to commands and training exercises, which can lead to better overall behavior and obedience.
