UPDATE!!! DUTCH is a girl, 6 months old, malnourished (only 3 pounds), has an eye infection, upper respiratory infection, AND is now spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. While administering medications, she's been very tolerant of being held and touched and pet, and actually beginning to CRAVE the affection. She'll be ready for adoption very soon. Stay tuned. DUTCH (formerly DOUGLAS) - Rescued off of the rough and frozen streets of east Cleveland last night. Her three siblings are still awaiting rescue, but Dutch couldn't wait, she has a serious upper respiratory infection and needs medical attention for an injury to her leg. We got her an appointment for tomorrow.

Hopefully, she'll be on the mend very soon and be ready for adoption. She's about 5 months old and friendly.

We received this brand new, still in its orginal packaging, Leo's Loo as a donation. This automated cat pan can change your life, reducing the time you spend scooping and cleaning up, and it's shown to use less litter. They sell on Chewy for $399, but it can be yours for only $5.

HOW TO PLAY:

Here's how it's going to work... beginning today 10/25 each $5 incremental donation made directly to Home At Last Pet Rescue Inc via Zelle, or on one of our Facebook fundraisers, will be assigned a raffle ticket. Also, if you donate, each page LIKE for Home At Last Pet Rescue Inc willl be assigned an additional raffle ticket. For example: a Zelle transfer to [email protected] of $25 and a page LIKE of our page will garner you 6 raffle tickets for the drawing.

We all have distance friends and family, and acquaintances on Facebook that would love to help you celebrate your big day. They aren't sure how to and instead of an awkward delivery of flowers or a card, give them another choice. LOUIE - taking in some sun rays. This is his favorite thing to do, next to cuddling under the covers. Sphinx cats have special care needs that pet owners need to be aware of: 1. Predisposed to Dental Disease, 2. They need a mild sunscreen, 3. Help them stay clean with weekly warm wash cloth (do not bath often, just a light wipe down).

We MISS you Dexter!!

DEXTER - one of the best cats we've met. He just wanted a little attention and to be looked after. We know that the "NOVELTY" can wear off possessions and trinkets but PETS ARE FAMILY, PETS ARE FOREVER. Don't rehome, surrender to shelter, euthanize or dump outside your furry family members. They can live to 20+ years. We see the results of these actions everyday, they are terrified, mortified, abused, euthanized too young, etc. Only in extreme cases should they be relinquished to a responsible, loving and capable home.

A BOY AND HIS TOYS - TEEGAN - Was rescued along with his 3 sisters, he was the runt of the litter and his siblings beat him up incessantly. He's currently at our rescue, having the time of his life playing with toy cars and stuffed mice and the other residents. We have no idea where the toy car came from, but he has a knack for kicking toys underneath the stove.

FIONA - Our rescue took Fiona in from a very bad situation, she was malnourished, underweight, loaded with fleas and had parasites. After treating her for fleas, parasites and getting her vetted she was adopted by a wonderful couple. Fiona is being spoiled rotten, and living the best life possible.

MONDAY - Rescued from a gutter on busy street in South Florida. Behaving lethargic and disoriented, he was rushed to our vet where they determined he was blind and not injured. Monday is sort of a mascot to our rescue, we love you buddy.

Support our everyday efforts in rescuing kittens and cats from those who would them harm, and there are plenty. Please donate to our rescue via one of our Facebook fundraisers or on our website. From dog fighting rings, to local pest control companies that seemingly don't have enough mosquitoes, ants and roaches to kill, to those with foreign customs that aim to harm or even eat them. We are inundated everyday with local horrors towards these cats. Our only tools for defending these cats are educating the public, practicing trap-neuter-return (we prefer to find them ALL homes but..), and appealing to local police and prosecutors to address animal cruelty crimes.

UNREASONABLE FEAR - Listen... We're gonna get on a soapbox for a minute... just hear us out. Cats all over the world are euthanized due to a single Positive FIV (AIDS) test. The tests have an extremely high rate of FALSE positive results, get an actual blood test that will find the true results.

Even then, transmission is thru very deep nasty bite wounds. Neutered friendly cats are very unlikely to spread it, especially in an indoor safe environment. Please read these FIV+ Myths and Facts, and understand these cats live regular full lives without any intervention. Just take slightly more preventive health measures in later adult years to not complicate matters.

Of course, we DO NOT EUTHANIZE FIV+ cats...

BINX - State Route 84 dock dwelling cat that was abandoned years ago by his owner, fed by new tenants of the condo complex, was either shot by an air rifle or pierced by a large dog's teeth, doctors say. His wound, hidden by his black fur, amassed a huge infection and large area of necrotic skin and tissue. He's very lucky to be alive. He's recovering from surgery beautifully, and he's being such a trooper with taking his medicines.

HEROES IN ACTION - This litter rescue could NOT have happened without the support of our community. While walking thru the metropark, Kristy Helbig-Runt and her boys came across a box that was oddly placed and making noise. Kristy jumped into ACTION, opened the box, found kittens and began her outreach. Our rescue posted on the northeast Ohio cat help group, Weirdo Cat Lovers of Cleveland. Within 18 hours, all three kittens were adopted by true rescue HEROES, Doreen Kilmo, of Brunswick, and Jessica Higgins, of Lorain. Pictures attached of the little cuties in their new homes. All 3 kittens will be getting complimentary New Kitty Health Checks at the Lorain Animal Clinic.
