This time of year again… please check your doggies for ticks… found 20 of them on one dog.

Finding ticks on your pet can be almost impossible this time of year unless they are fat and full and gross! Keep doing daily checks for parasites, especially if you were outside playing or when you go hiking or camping.
This is an American dog tick in its nymph stage, so it is 3mm x 5mm big. Even after the owner pointed it out to us on their cute puppy last week, we had a hard time finding it a second time to remove it!
Keep your pets on safe, effective monthly preventatives all year round please 🙏

Every heat cycle is a chance for puppies or pyometra. Every testosterone surge is a chance to escape and get hurt or lost.
Make sure to schedule that surgery!
It's never too late and its always better for their health.

Please be aware of surface temperatures

😎 choose your walk route where the pavement is fully shaded

🌳 walk on a trail so there's softer and cooler surfaces

🌅 make your walk time early in the morning

Socializing is important at every stage of life and training doesnt stop at 1yr old.

☀️ Please be mindful of hot weather and heat stroke in your pets.
🐶 Brachycephalic breeds are more at risk (english or french bulldogs, Boston terriers, pugs, boxers, and mixes of these breeds)
⏲️ Pets with pre-existing conditions can not be outside for more than 10 minutes. These conditions include cardiac disease, asthma, collapsing trachea, laryngeal paralysis or any respiratory condition.
🌡 If your pet is overheated use tepid water to soak them fully and fans for evaporative cooling while you get to a vet immediately.
📱 Keep you vets phone number in your contact list as well as local ER vet clinics so you can call and alert them that you are on your way in with a heat stroke emergency and they can appropriately prepare.
