As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we rely entirely on the generosity of donors like you to care for our horses, some of whom are rescued, and provide them a home filled with love and care. As children visit the Ranch and take part in barn chores, they learn about horse anatomy, horse health, care and safety. More importantly, they learn life skills, compassion for animals and the value of teamwork.

Letting go of someone you love is never easy. This morning, we said goodbye to our precious and gentle Freya, our beloved percheron. She served with a loving heart and children's lives were touched because of her. For that, we are grateful. Thank you Freya.

It's something we tell every child: For horses to be healthy and happy, they need to be part of a herd...humans are no different. Social anxiety and fear are one of the biggest obstacles to a child's development. That's why at Dare to Dream Youth Ranch, our volunteers encourage children to reach out and find people who want the best for them. Learning and earning trust is not only healthy, it connects us to brave even bigger challenges. We like that. Everyone needs a herd.

A big shout out to the Lilly Scholars Network for choosing Dare to Dream Youth Ranch for their weekend field trip! Our tremendous team of volunteers offered up a barn tour, a training clinic demo with expert trainer Bill Yelton and a demo riding session featuring littles from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Indiana! It was a full day of learning, inspiration and collaboration.

Dear ,
It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that Max, our treasured draft horse was laid to rest this morning. He passed peacefully in a field of green clover and the sun shining brightly, surrounded by volunteers who loved and cared for him. Max was a superhero among ordinary horses...magnificent, handsome and kind. The kids and volunteers loved him, and he gave us all wonderful memories...the last year of his life was a good one and we will miss him so much. Farewell Max.

On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, Armistice Day signaled the end of World War I. In 1954, Congress replaced "Armistice" with "Veterans" and the day has been known as Veterans Day ever since. Veterans Day honors and celebrates all veterans from all branches of service, including the Ranch's own Vic Narwold, who served in the Army as farrier to the horses at Arlington National Cemetery. To Vic and all our veterans, we salute you!
