Do you share non-citrus fruit with your dog? Mine have always loved cantaloupe and watermelon and it never seemed to hurt them! It only made growing a garden hard. They play ball with cantaloupes then eat them... Ha..ha on me!

If I may, after 30 years, put something simple on here. More than 99% of people think too much when dealing with animals. If you want to train a dog then must first "dumb down" to their level.

This year I had people with a poodle that pan fried a Ribeye steak and cut it it up in bites ... For every dog training lesson. Years ago with two Standard Poodles the people used Filet Mignon with bacon grilled. If you want your dog to learn fast! Let the reward go over the top!

Amazing but true. Year after year, " Honey, did know we had a dog in the backyard? Yes, dear, I've been feeding him for over a year. I'll go get him a leash and a harness! Coming back from a pet store they realize they can't walk their dog. He wants to bite everybody! Animal Control is there. I've done this too many times. Why do people do that? Good question for you?

Neutering an aggressive dog will not change his learned behavior. I've been telling people that for over 20 years. Do not listen to your veterinarian on this one.

The biggest single problem with people is, they will not "Mark " wanted or unwanted behavior within 2 seconds. They just let their dogs get up and walk around for a while...reward. ( praise) or correct within a second!

Dogs cannot lie, you just have to read them. So don't lie to your dog. If giving them something special and you say "it's got chicken in it!" It better have chicken in it or they will know, at least my spoiled dog does...

The correct way to figure a dogs age is one month equals one year for the first two years. Then each calendar year equals four added to that. Arius is 11 years old today and that makes him 60 in human years. Large breed dogs have a shorter lifespan and die in their 60's-70's. Small breeds live longer, like 80-100 human years! Happy Birthday, Arius! You are 11, like 60 for us!

CBS 11 news tonight. If you are offered a service dog for less than $10,000. That is a red flag. I do not train service dogs but you can get one for cheap. I can help and train "companion dogs" or therapy dogs, but beware of fake dog trainers.

If any dog trainer comes to your house that puts any dog on territorial/ defense. The best way is on neutral territory like a city park. Some dogs just love all visitors but even they will not learn as well. Ask any child, "do you want to stay home today or go to the park ?"

People just read too much on the internet. Then see a tv show where some trainer has a magic wand for every dog problem. It doesn't work that way in real life. Train your dog! That means I've gotta' train you how! It's not going to be an easy puppy class.

Only positive reinforcement training for dogs and children does not work. Why do you think there are so many fruits and nuts in California Government and Texas has the most people per capita in prison in the world ? Train your dog.
