So I am sure those who follow me have noticed that I am not very active on here anymore. I have been busy with something new that I am enjoying very much. I have been training with my own personal dogs in detection. I am not sure if I will continue doing pet training anymore and I will most likely close this page down in a few months. Thank you to all who have been fabulous clients! I appreciated every single one of you!!
It was a nice day to get out and work Apollo outside! Apollo has been with us for 2 weeks and has 2 more before he goes home. He is doing fabulous for an almost 7 month old ornery boy!
Board and Train Goose
Goose has successfully learned how to relax and be calm and is killing it on his place bed. I am very pleased with his progress here! Don’t mind the two sad boys wearing muzzles; they are my dogs and learning to coexist peacefully and I would prefer to do that in a safe manner. Please don’t judge the dirty floor, dogs are hard on it lol
I love how all of my dogs can just chill and hang out like couch potatoes especially when the weather is cold and gross. I hear a lot how working line German Shepherd’s do not make good pets because they are too high drive or too high energy. I think my dogs are great pets but I also give them the appropriate outlets for their mental and physical needs. I also feel most of the problems come from a lack of training. My dogs are not “worked” or even exercised every day. I get busy and even lazy sometimes with my dogs. However, all the training I have done with them helps on those days when I am less motivated to get out with them. They are happy to relax and nap on the couch all day.
Snow zoomies!
Bash loves the snow! ❤️
I cannot tell you the number of times I have heard “I don’t want or need that kind of obedience on my dog. I just want it to listen to me.”
Regardless of the level of obedience you want, in order to have a dog that “listens” you are still required to train said dog to achieve that goal. You still have to put in the time and the work because owning a good dog requires that… here is a little video of me doing what is called a send out with my dog. The down on command can actually save your dogs life if it were ever in a scenario that needed it.
Sometimes it’s the small successes that are the biggest. This may not seem like much but Zeus came here terrified of everything. It took him weeks to consistently go to the bathroom when taken out and he was and still is a bit skittish of sounds and sudden movements. But we have been able to start obedience and working on confidence building. He is also now taking food from me, wagging his tail and offering play!
Some of the fun training I do with my own dogs. Training seminars and working with my own dogs is one of the ways I keep up and learn new training techniques I incorporate into pet training. You may not have the same level of intensity of my dog but we still use the same engagement games to help build and strengthen your relationship.
Heading home from our 3 day seminar! It’s been a long 3 days but man we have made so much progress! Setting training goals for yourself is so important even if you are not competing with your dog. Your dog wants to do something! (Even if it’s just doing obedience for a toy/ball/praise/food at home) Your dog always needs you and it needs to have a strong relationship with you! Set goals and work hard to achieve them!
I’m going to try posting more videos 😬 please be patient with my awkwardness lol as I am not a fan of doing videos. This is my 7 month old puppy Azra, we are working on heeling, sit, down, front and working on engagement. I muted the sound for this video.
I believe it’s very important to get puppies out and into age appropriate activities! It’s so good for building confidence. Yesterday my pup Dare did his first ever jump off the dock ramp all by himself.
Just a short clip of the fun we are having at the Dock Diving Event.
Took my little guy Dare to The Home Depot for some training. He did so good. I cannot stress how important it is to get your pups out in public ASAP.
