Happy Easter! Today we did a swap horse day! You had to warm up your own horse and then draw a different horse name out of a hat to get your next mount. We did this twice and then the riders had a give a review of their switch rides. The reward was a gift card from Dover thanks to their Trainer’s Rewards program

I know it’s finally almost February, but I feel like I can finally talk about life in December. In the midst of organizing D Rally for the Sunshine region and preparing my (very) green mare for the Thoroughbred Expo, I lost my Advanced horse, Luke, (Star Wars, JC Prolific) and my dog, Cricket, a few days later. They both had long lives at 27 and 15 respectively.

A lot of people knew and loved Luke. After his advanced career he took my sister, Jordy, to prelim and then novice with Juli, and then countless more people got to ride him and experience his “helicopter” jump. He even became besties with a wild pig.

Cricket was so sassy right up to the very end- barking to order me around. She went to a million horse shows in her life and loved hanging out looking for snacks.

Thanks to the wonderful people in my life, D Rally was fabulous. Our holiday theme was in full force. We managed to pull off the rally and a spaghetti fundraiser at the same time.

Then I made it to the Thoroughbred Expo with my new project, Winnie (JC Entwine). We had a super educational week with my students, Kat and Brooke, taking home a ton of ribbons.

I thought I would include a few throwback photos. So thankful for my barn family and my awesome vets at OEMC and Shey’s Veterinary Hospital for treating me and my animals with such kindness.

Waterford Eventing in Geneva, FL is looking for evening barn help. Duties to include turning out horses, cleaning stalls, filling waters, and feeding. Hours are approximately 3:30-6pm. Horse experience preferred. Send a message for more details.

Best show of the year! Battle of the Barns at FHP organized by POP. This is our fifth year participating in the costume contest- I love it because it really shows the team spirit our barn has. And, it’s so fun and everyone is so positive. This year we went as Day of the Dead… our costumes were amazing and our horses just continued to put up with our craziness. We will be back again next year!!! Also, thanks to Paul and Jane for the pics!!

This weekend we did a POP Show combined with USPC Eventing Rally and our horses and riders were super. Many riders got a PR in dressage (watch out scores in the 20s… we are coming for you!) and made the jumping phases look easy.

South Lake Pony Club members impressed me once again… First in Horse Management and Second in Riding, plus the most exceeds standards. Pony Club might not look exactly like it did in the past, but it still is the gold standard for teaching horse care. I’m proud of my riders who want to be complete horsewomen.

Looking to hire 2 people to help with our busy barn in Geneva. Horse experience and the ability to handle the Florida heat a must!
1) Morning worker to feed, bring-in, help with tacking and grooming. 2-3 days a week for approximately 3 hours.
2) Evening worker. Duties include feeding, turnout, cleaning stalls (9). Hours approximately 3:30-6:30, Monday-Friday.

So much fun tonight at Trivia Night at Dover… Thankful for the learning opportunity and the support Dover shows our local community! Will be back next time to see if anyone can beat us!

We spent Tuesday schooling at Majestic Oaks and Wednesday doing their schooling show. We took seven horses… some were green riders, some were green horses, some were combos working on improving their training. I think everyone came away more educated and with the knowledge of what needs improving. So much fun and the weather was perfect!

Waterford Eventing divided and conquered last weekend. Four horses went eventing at Terra Nova and two went to dressage at Silver sands. So many ribbons!!

Caribbean Soul "Jess" got to complete her first intermediate horse trial this weekend at Poplar. Maren has produced this horse since she came off the track at the end of 2012. Exactly three years ago, she rode this horse in it's first beginner novice schooling show.

Resident broodmare, Libby, has earned an extended stay at the hospital, but soon she and baby will be home. This is a half brother to Tug and Fera, and he seems to share Tug's outgoing and playful personality.

Sox and Tug know how to stay cool as the temperature climbs.

Maren and Jess at Ocala

Here are some clips of Maren riding Jess at the CCI1* today. She went double clear and is currently sitting 9th out of 90 competitors going into showjumping tomorrow. This video shows them from jump 3-5, when Jess was feeling a bit fresh and forward, as well as through the banks and water toward the end of the course where she is "clever as a cat."
