Things I have learned so far this year as a fairly new gardener.

1. Don’t start your squashes and cucumbers with the first batch of seeds. They may be hardy but your sprouts will be too week still to survive the inevitable freezing temperatures in the beginning stages.

2. There is such a thing as over watering. Make sure you check your soil before watering EVERY TIME. If it’s is crumbly and is dry to the touch, water it. If it’s dark and wet, don’t.

3. The 8 weeks between seed starting and actual planting is most likely the longest span of time known to man. What do you want I still have 4 weeks at least until I can actually plant?!

4. Following a gardening group that has people in different growing zones that already have full and plentifully gardens start a thing called garden envy...I JUST WANT TO HAVE PRETTY PLANTS!

5. Garden chores with a toddler make everything more fun...and messy but still fun.

What are some things you have learned so far this growing season?
