Good morning to our amazing community. Just as a reminder, we have a heat advisory in effect today. Keep your fur babies inside with you, with fresh water and off the scolding hot pavements. Just like humans, our four legged friends can get heat stroke so it is important we are watching out for them. Have a wonderful Monday everyone!

Everyday we are reminded of the importance of spaying and neutering our pets. On July 14 we had five kittens abandoned at our clinic. We were nor are we set up to be a clinic that can accept surrenders. We were told these kittens were feral and their momma did not make it before the woman ran out of our clinic and fled. After examining and caring for these littles, it is apparent they are not feral. They have adapted well to their foster home as well as their canine foster siblings.

Because we have some awesome techs here at Riverside, we have been fostering them until they are old enough to either be adopted or surrendered to Josephine County Animal Shelter. We would love to prevent that from happening. We are looking for adopters for 3 of the 5 kittens.

Please do not call the clinic to inquire about the kittens. Please message us here so that we may keep our lines open for urgent cases.

Summers can get hot and caring for your dog properly in the heat makes all the difference. People sweat when they are hot, but dogs keep themselves cool through panting and sweat through their paw pads. If you see your pup lying down excessively or if they have their tongue fully out in the shape of a spade, these are signs that your dog might be overheated. Make sure they are hydrated, try using a cooling vest, and find shaded areas as much as possible. Remember to keep your doggy healthy by seeing us for regular wellness visits by giving us a call at 541-479-8361.

Did you know that Beagles’ ears help their noses to smell? When drawn out, a Beagle’s ears reach the end of their nose. Their long ears actually help to catch scent particles and keep them close to their nose, which allows them to take in as much information as possible. Interesting, right? For more information on care for Beagles and other dog breeds, give us a call at 541-479-8361.
