If I could some up riding -not dressage but RIDING it’s this. I don’t care what saddle you sit in, what breed of horse you ride, or what discipline you enjoy. Every horse can and should learn to move in self carriage! It will preserve them mentally and physically. No, they won’t look as hectic and spectacular as some of the dressage we see in the ring now. But they will look soft, peaceful and happy. And if it’s not about that, if what we do costs our horses their mental or physical health why are we doing it?? To stroke our ego?? To look a certain way? At the cost of an animal that didn’t ask for any of it.

Below is a Quote from Dr Andrew McLean

Our third ride this spring. Legend!! Chloe Evans rode him last fall, but with the wet weather he sat most of the winter. Starting back, he’s out of shape, but man, he reminds me what a cool horse he is!!! I think he would shine in western dressage or ranch. My plan had been to show him in those, but it’s not too be.

Great morning riding! ❤️.

Hey everyone.
A couple weeks ago we got some bad news regarding John’s job. Because of this news I am having to downsize my herd. This was not planned and is the last thing I want to do. I had other plans for these 2, but life has a way of changing your story.

So, next week Legend and Ziggy will, unfortunately, be put up for sale. Good homes are an absolute must, this is something that is breaking my heart to do. I hate selling horses, especially these guy. I wanted to show Legend at the local shows, and had hoped to get Ziggy to a dressage show or two but it is not too be. I’ll be putting up a better ad with videos next week, but I wanted to give a heads up in case anyone is looking.

I don’t have papers for Legend, but I have the original ad for him from the ottb page. He’s a big (16.3) funny, silly, amazingly sweet and kind guy. He loves to play with his buddies in the field. Easy keeper. Sound, good for farrier (does find the smoke from hot shoeing a little scary but nothing big) excellent for vet. I am getting him going more and more, and he’s proving what a great mind he has. He’s around 8 or 9

Ziggy is around 10? Have to recheck his papers. Ottb around 16.1 hands He’s a sarcastic type, wants you to think he’s grumpy but he’s really not. Just isn’t a big cuddler. Prefers cookies and pats. He has lovely gaits, a ton of talent and a generous heart. Good feet, awesome for vet and farrier. Sound. Both boys are good loaders, not an issue in stalls etc.

Again, there will be better ads and more to come. Prices will be reasonable as I NEED good homes for me. I can’t explain how much this isn’t what I want to happen. But life is like that isn’t it? Right now we don’t know what the future holds for us. But we know God is in control, so we are trusting in him to lead us wherever he feels best. What that means? We don’t really know.

If you have any interest in either one of these handsome guys, let me know. But again, full ad for each to follow.
Thank you all ❤️

I felt called to make this video after having a lovely catch up with a friend (and former client) from back home. So much is going on in the horse world right now. We can do better, we must if we want still have a horse community in the future. We can’t ignore it. We need to change.

I’m not calling out any one person, trainer or discipline. I’m definitely not saying I know everything or have an answer. But after working in the horse industry for a LONG time, all over Canada and now the US, after riding pretty much every discipline there is, I can say it’s something we have to change as a group. Our horses deserve it. We know better now.

I think it’s time all of us who consider ourselves horse people to ask how we can improve our horses lives. How we as a community can do better. I’m not cal...

Your horse can only go as well as you can ride it.
Read that again.

I sometimes see people who *look* like they are riding balanced, who seem to sit well. But when I sit on their horses I feel the riders imbalance coming through the horse. I feel where the horses are blocked, because the riders body is blocking them. The horse might look like it’s going well, but once I’m on and riding I notice these issues. The rider is stiff and can’t swing with their horses movement, or they are crooked and gripping, or they are using their body to try and ride aggressively. You must work on your own body so you can GO WITH your horse, melt into your horse, so you do everything together. The horse then won’t refuse to go, they’ll be able to balance under you, to be straight in their body and be moldable ONLY if you first go with them. Then they can learn to carry you. But you must be able to let go and ride the energy and movement you are offered. It is something all riders must work on every ride. I am a naturally stiff and clumsy person, but I work very hard on this all the time!

Let’s hope winter calms down and we can all get back to riding again!! ❤️
