It’s an African Grey kind of day!

We have 2 other African Grey parrots available in store.
Zachariah is the first photo, who is a young Grey around 8-10 years old. He is a sweet bird, loves to ride on your shoulder, and is a great talker.

We have two Gouldian finches available at the store that are a mother and daughter pair.

Goildians have beautiful plumage and are great “watching only” birds and are not meant for handling as they can be prone to stress. They are also not recommended as great first birds for a first time bird owner as they can be less hardy like some other finches.

Smokey is a young African Grey parrot who is a sweet bird and needs lots of love and attention. Smokey needs to find an owner who can provide just that. African Greys require consistent mental stimulation including time out of the cage, interaction with its owners, and lots of toys to keep them busy. They can be prone to plucking and self mutilation if not provided the proper care.

Opal is a 23-24 year old bare eye cockatoo looking for a home. She is a sweetie and likes to hang out on your shoulder and perch.

Bare eyed cockatoos can live to be 50-60 years old and as any cockatoo, needs a lot of time and attention. These cockatoos are known to be playful, intelligent, and very good talkers.

We’ve got a new baby Galah or also known as the rose breasted cockatoo.

Galah’s are known to have affectionate personalities but are typically accustomed to handling only and not a cuddly type of bird. They are also not as loud as your typical cockatoo, however they still have a distinct high pitched call that is not ideal for any owners who live in a condo or an apartment situation.

As usual, we always recommend doing your research.

These types of birds have been increasingly popular and we don’t expect for this little one to stay long!

Great information regarding wing trimming!

Types of Wing Trims

1. Standard Method
This approach involves trimming typically 3-7 out of the 10 primary flight feathers at the shaft, ensuring not to include the primary coverts. The exact number of feathers trimmed can depend on the bird's species and the desired outcome, aiming to balance flight landing and safety. Tok is a sweet umbrella cockatoo that is looking for his forever home. He is DNA confirmed male and is about 10-11years old. He is a lot more quiet than some of the cockatoos we’ve had in store, but he definitely will scream when he wants to!

Cockatoos are known for their loud screeching calls and intelligence. They are like VELCRO! They want to be stuck to you 24/7. If you have the time for a bird like this, they make a great companion for someone who is home all of the time and give him the time and attention he deserves.

We’ve had many of our fish find new homes and now we need to restock! We will be getting more gouramis, a variety of cichlids, and fancy goldfish. We will have rasboras and other pretty fish to choose from that will be new in our store!

Grooming is a natural behavior of all birds. Preening is the act of straightening and cleaning a bird’s own feathers with the beak, while allopreening is when a bird helps groom another bird. Preening behavior in pet birds may especially be witnessed after a bath, in an attempt to groom unruly human hair, or rarely on certain toys. When does your bird show preening behavior?

Food enrichment: “Treat kabobs” can be offered by skewering fresh or dried fruits and vegetables using a commercial stainless steel kabob or a strip of leather. We have some sweet baby Crimson Bellied Conures that are being hand fed. We are currently taking deposits on any of them. We have a total of 4 available!

Crimson bellied conures are known to be slightly bigger than a green cheek conure and a little more quiet. They are also known to be very silly, playful and can have some erratic behaviors if not trained properly. They can also get to be a little naughty if they don’t the attention they need.

Baby girl is a Scarlett Macaw and is around 8-10 years old. She is friendly and sweet, likes to be held and loves kisses. She can also talk, and likes your attention and interaction. She was hand raised and is tame, but like any other macaw, you will need to gain her trust. Macaws are special birds who require time and attention, requiring at least 2-4 hrs of mental stimulation and exercise to keep them healthy and happy. Macaws also have a very loud screech/call, not making an ideal bird for owners living in an apartment/condo situation. Macaws that have a lack of interaction can tend to be aggressive, destructive,territorial and problematic. They are not recommended for first time bird owners. Macaws are also a lifetime commitment and typically can live 80+ years. They can make great companions and can certainly be very playful and active! If you want to come and meet Baby, stop in and spend time with her! She will often greet you with her usual “Hello!” If she really likes you, she may yell out to get your attention! Sonney is a 10-12 year old Umbrella Cockatoo who wants to find his forever home! He talks, steps up, and is playful. Like any other cockatoo, he is loud! We were told he prefers females. He has been around kids and animals. We always recommend doing your research before bringing a cockatoo home. They are not recommended for first time bird owners. They require a lot of time and attention. Although they are known to be very affectionate, they can tend to hold strong bonds to one particular person. They are also not recommended for anyone who has allergies as they produce a lot of dander. Babies are exploring and having fun!

English Budgies are smart little birds. They are bigger than your common smaller American or Australian Budgie. They have a more pronounced head covered in feathers that make them look like they are blinded, but can see quite clearly! They have vibrant colors that are very pleasing to the eye. They are pretty laid back and make a great addition to family with kids or first time bird owners. We currently have 2 males and 2 females available. Call or stop in to see them! 302-684-4101

These sharks are neat little creatures. We have both iridescent shark catfish and bala sharks available. Iridescent sharks can get up to 3-4 feet in length!
