Mountain Mint is a delightful Native Plant that has many fantastic features going for it and has become a staff favorite! Very fragrant leaves and flowers, it has a delicious peppermint smell. Flowers and the Leaves are edible can be used for Tea or put in salads. There are multiple Medicinal uses.
This powerhouse plant grows to be 2' to 3' tall by 2 ' wide, can grow in full sun or filtered shade. Mountain Mint is an excellent nectar source for Pollinators and Butterflies, notably being a larval host plant for the Gray Hairstreak, a native Texas Butterfly. Encourages Pollinators to visit the Vegetable Garden. The leaves have an attractive silvery cast and the flowers, while not showy, grow in delicate tiny pink whorls. Placed in the ornamental garden next to colorful flowering plants, it makes a pretty contrast feature. Especially effective when blooming in Late Summer and Fall.
Mountain Mint is similar in growth habit to other Mints, but is not invasive and the plant can be easily trimmed back and kept compact. Grow this perennial in your garden for a multi-sensory experience.

Love the sound of baby chicks in the store, it always makes me smile. Did you know baby chicks arrive in the mail are 24-72 hours old? Baby chicks eat the yoke before they hatch & that gives them enough nourishment for 72 hours. We hold these babies for 1 day to make sure they made the trip okay. #wabashfeedandgarden #houston #chickens #babychicks #backyardpoultry #soothingsounds

Growing fall tomatoes in Houston you need to focus on hybrids and varieties that mature early before the first freeze (65-80 day). Up-pot them in one gallon containers and put them in the shade until the weather cools off then transplant in your garden. If you have any questions come on in the store and talk to one of our knowledgeable gardeners. They are happy to help you. #wabashfeedandgarden #houston #growingfalltomatoes #tomatoes #growingtomatoes #growyourownfood #gardening
